UFC Mauricio Rua
As Tito Ortiz prepares for his upcoming challenge at UFC 133 against Rashad Evans, he will need to bring all of the skills he has gained over the past 24 years as well as his battle-tested chin.
The former UFC light heavyweight champion has only been finished twice in his career due to strikes, and those were to Chuck Liddell.
Ortiz, like many of the fighters in the 205-pound division, has a good ability to absorb punishment as well as deal hisr own. It's important to any fighter that he has a chin that can take a punch. It is almost a requirement to be considered one of the top fighters.
These are the top 10 chins in the light heavyweight division.
No. 4: Mauricio "Shogun" Rua
1 of 4Former UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio "Shogun" Rua was most recently stopped by Jon Jones in his first title defense at UFC 128.
In defeat, Rua showed an incredible chin and took strikes of every kind. Jones threw everything from jumping high kicks, spinning back elbows, knees and punches.
A knee to the body eventually sent the bloodied and bruised Brazilian to the mat in the third round and ended the fight.
No. 3: Stephan Bonnar
2 of 4Stephan Bonnar has two TKO losses on his record, but both were due to cuts suffered in fights versus Lyoto Machida and Krzysztof Soszynski.
"The American Psycho" has a 13-7 record but has never been knocked out in his career.
Almost every fight he is in is a battle of wills and chins. Sometimes he comes out on top. Sometimes he doesn't. His ability to take punishment always makes for a good fight.
No. 2: Quinton Jackson
3 of 4Former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson has a granite chin, and it's something that intimidates many of his opponents and always has.
He may have taken one of the hardest shots ever to not put someone down when he took a right hand from Wanderlei Silva in their second bout while he was fighting in Pride. He was quickly finished soon after, but it was one of the hardest punches he ever took.
Three of his losses have been by TKO, and they were to Silva and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua.
It takes a lot to put Jackson away, and those fights proved it.
No. 1: Dan Henderson
4 of 4In Dan Henderson's last two bouts, he was dropped by Fedor Emelianenko and Rafael Cavalcante but returned to knock both out later in the fight. He showcased an amazing chin in both fights and has always had one of the best chins in MMA.
Henderson has 36 fights under his belt and has never been knocked out. He has fought everyone from Anderson Silva, Quinton Jackson and Wanderlei Silva to Vitor Belfort, Renato Sobral and Kazuo Misaki.
