2011 MLB Trade Deadline: Are the Philadelphia Phillies Done Dealing?
The 2011 trade deadline is about to come and go. The Phillies have already made one of the biggest splashes of the season by acquiring Hunter Pence from the Houston Astros, but one is left to wonder if the Phillies are really done dealing.
Well, if you listen to what Ruben Amaro Jr. said this time on Philly.com, the answer is probably yes.
"We'll keep our minds open," Amaro said. "But right now I'm very comfortable with our ballclub."

However, he also said earlier this season that you will not see a major move from the Phillies this season, so that question is always there.
Most of the rumors are swirling around either another bullpen arm or Jim Thome making a return to Philadelphia to hopefully grab his 600th home run.
The Jim Thome scenario could be probable because the Phillies could use a powerful bat off the bench despite the fact that it would be another left-handed bat.
However, he is batting .265 against left-handed pitching, so that is definitely not too low to be useful in that role. He has hit three out of his seven home runs against left-handers as well, so it is not like he suffers from a power loss against left-handers.
He was also very popular during his time in Philadelphia and bringing him back to hit No. 600 would be a good thing as far as publicity is concerned.
This deal definitely is not a necessity, but it might not be a terrible one if the asking price is low enough.
According to Jim Bowden at ESPN, the Phillies are not among the leaders for Heath Bell right now. Ken Rosenthal at Fox Sports also said that the Padres would need to be "compelled" to move Mike Adams.
The Phillies might not necessarily be willing to blow the Padres away with such a great deal to get Adams right now simply because they just sent a few prospects for Pence, so neither of these arms will probably be moving to Philadelphia.
However, this doesn't mean that the Phillies will not find some bullpen arm to add, but at the same time, with the return of Brad Lidge, the Phillies bullpen is in a better spot than it has been for most of the season.
As the final hours count down, the Phillies might move again. It is definitely not a guarantee, and neither of these situations are necessities that have to be dealt with before the Phillies can even consider the World Series run. However, we will see what will happen, and maybe Ruben Amaro Jr. will have more surprises.
