Either Vitali Klitschko has been watching the Rocky moves way too much, or Sylvester Stallone borrowed the training techniques for one of his films from an unknown European trainer. This kind of training may very well have been common back in the day, but nowadays we rarely get treated to a fighter going old school in their preparation.

In this funny yet inspirational video, Vitali Klitschko takes his training to what looks to be a totally secluded cabin, and is using the same techniques Mr. Rocky Balboa used for his own preparation.

I find this video interesting, due to the fact that many Europeans still believe in natural body movement. Lifting weights at the gym and running on a treadmill is something that most seasoned trainers try to avoid at all costs. The reason that a lot of fighters and athletes in general try to get away from the cities and into woods or mountains for their training, is not only concentration, but from what I have been told, also the Zen environment. Nature has a way to inspire due of its grandiose presence, and many fighters cling to that for their emotional and positive psychological amplification.

No wonder the folks living in villages doing manual labor all their lives, end up looking like they are in their fifties, when really they may hitting their eight decade. At this rate, Vitali may perhaps still have ten or so years of competitive ability left in him!

Mr. Adamek: beware of still water and a quiet dog.
