NFL Power Rankings: Week 10

Jordan SchwartzNov 4, 2008

1 (1) Tennessee Titans (8-0)

The Titans avoided their first loss of the season with an overtime victory over the Green Bay Packers, but they might not be as lucky this week at Chicago.

2 (2) New York Giants (7-1)

The Giants completely dominated the Tony Romo-less Dallas Cowboys in Week Nine, but now travel to hostile territory in Philadelphia to take on a healthy Eagles team.

3 (4) Carolina Panthers (6-2)

The idle Panthers moved ahead of the Washington Redskins and should continue this upward trend as they travel to Oakland on Sunday.

4 (10) Pittsburgh Steelers (6-2)

Following their loss at home to the Giants in Week Eight, I dropped the Steelers below the Eagles.  But following an impressive win at Washington on Monday night, I had to bring Pittsburgh back up in the rankings.  The Steelers continue their gauntlet schedule against Indy on Sunday.

5 (3) Washington Redskins (6-3)

Jason Campbell, Clinton Portis, and the rest of the 'Skins offense were completely stymied by Pittsburgh's defense Monday night.

6 (5) Arizona Cardinals (5-3)

The Cardinals continued to look great on both sides of the ball at St. Louis on Sunday, but I had to drop them one spot to make room for the Steelers.

7 (7) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-3)

After putting up just nine points against Dallas in Week Eight and then needing to rally from 21 down to beat Kansas City in overtime, I'm beginning to wonder how good the Bucs really are.

8 (8) Chicago Bears (5-3)

The Bears have a chance to prove they are real contenders as they battle undefeated Tennessee Sunday.

9 (9) Philadelphia Eagles (5-3)

The Eagles overcame a slow start in Seattle to pick up their third straight win.  Things get a little tougher this week as they host division rival New York.

10 (11) Atlanta Falcons (5-3)

I know the Raider offense is bad, but the Falcons D held them to just 77 yards in Week Nine.  We'll get a chance to learn a little bit more about these upstarts from Atlanta as they now play New Orleans at home, where the Falcons are 3-0.

11 (6) Dallas Cowboys (5-4)

The bye is finally here and the 'Boys hope to have Tony Romo back in Week 11.

12 (15) Green Bay Packers (4-4)

The Packers lost in Week Nine, but they move up three spots due to how well they played at undefeated Tennessee.

13 (17) Indianapolis Colts (4-4)

NBC probably thought that the Pats/Colts game would've been a lot more important when they scheduled it for primetime before the season.

14 (12) New England Patriots (5-3)

The Patriots still haven't beaten a defense ranked in the top half of the league.

15 (27) New York Jets (5-3)

I think the Jets surprising win over the Bills proved that Buffalo isn't quite ready to get over the hump, rather than proving that New York is.

16 (21) Baltimore Ravens (5-3)

The Ravens are hard to beat when they score 37 points.

17 (25) Miami Dolphins (4-4)

Chad Pennington has thrown four interceptions this year.  Brett Favre has thrown 12.

18 (13) Buffalo Bills (5-3)

Two straight division losses for the Bills have me thinking the Dolphins could seriously win this watered-down AFC East.

19 (18) Minnesota Vikings (4-4)

The Vikes will try to avenge an earlier loss to the Packers this week.

20 (14) Denver Broncos (4-4)

The Broncos have lost three straight and now face a short week before traveling to Cleveland on Thursday.  It's not looking good in Denver.

21 (19) New Orleans (4-4)

The Saints need to prove this week that they can win somewhere other than New Orleans and London.

22 (20) San Diego Chargers (3-5)

The Chargers' streak of four home games in five weeks begins Sunday versus Kansas City.

23 (22) Cleveland Browns (3-5)

You can't give up 37 points to the Baltimore Ravens and expect to compete.

24 (23) St. Louis Rams (2-6)

After three straight solid performances under new head coach Jim Haslett, the Rams fell flat on their faces at home against Arizona.  They do have a winnable game at the Jets this week, though.

25 (16) Jacksonville Jaguars (3-5)

It's never good losing to the two Ohio schools in back-to-back weeks.

26 (24) Houston Texans (3-5)

The Texans dropped to 0-4 on the road with their latest loss at Minnesota.

27 (26) Oakland Raiders (2-6)

Lane Kiffin could've run for more than 77 yards on his own Sunday.

28 (28) Kansas City Chiefs (1-7)

The Chiefs are good at almost winning games.

29 (29) Seattle Seahawks (2-6)

I think the Hawks would settle for Tim Hasselbeck at this point.

30 (30) San Francisco 49ers (2-6)

(Insert dropping pants joke.)

31 (32) Cincinnati Bengals (1-8)

Thirty more wins and they'll be at the top of this list.

32 (31) Detroit Lions (0-8)

You know they were licking their chops watching that Bengals/Jags game on Sunday.
