WWE Money in the Bank results in Alberto Del Rio pulling out a win, but at this Pride Bushido 1 match against Mirko Cro Cop it resulted in something completely different.
Del Rio was actually a good fighter back in the day and was coming into this match 3-2 with all his matches coming in the promotion DEEP and none of them going the full distance.
Del Rio was coming off a huge victory over one-and-done UFC "vet" Brad Kohler. Cro Cop however was 6-0-2 and, well, we all know how Cro Cop's Pride career went.
The match starts and Del Rio immediately starts with a burst of energy dancing around Cro Cop. Del Rio goes in and immediately is stuffed and thrown off by Cro Cop.
Then Cro Cop started hunting Del Rio like a lion hunts a gazelle, just waiting for that perfect moment to unleash his cemetery sending left head kick.
The left kick immediately drops the masked Del Rio in the corner of the ring, and Cro Cop gets one more shot in for good luck and ends the match just 46 seconds in.
Del Rio went on to finish his MMA career rather impressively compiling a 9-5. Del Rio also pulled off a six straight victories before a loss to Yamamoto Hanshi in his final MMA bout.
Del Rio has had a successful career so far working for WWE from what it seems. The few times I have actually watched Raw or Smackdown, I've kind of liked Del Rio. He lost to a huge legend in the sport of MMA, Cro Cop, which is nothing to frown over.
Cro Cop of course went on to face Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira for the Pride heavyweight title next and was unsuccessful losing by submission. Cro Cop has had a very successful career since then and is set to face Roy Nelson at UFC 137.
