TNA Impact! Wrestling: Review and Thoughts (7/7/11)
The July 7th, 2011, edition of TNA Impact! Wrestling opens with a video package recapping last week's episode.
We suddenly get a shot of the ring with Immortal's Bully Ray, Scott Steiner and Gunner. Bully Ray calls out Mr. Anderson. Ray begins to demand to Mr. Anderson to continue to beat down Sting.
Ray adds that he can not beat Sting and needs to join Immortal to keep the title. Gunner takes the microphone and makes the main event of the night. Mr. Anderson must decide to either join or be on Sting's side.

Sting's music hits and we see him on top of the Impact! Zone in his newly found joker character. Kurt Angle suddenly appears and gives Immortal members Angle slams. Angle tells Mr. Anderson to not make it hard on himself and reject Immortal.
After, we see Bobby Roode and James Storm before going to commercial. Back from break, we get a quick Bound For Glory series update.
Crimson versus Bobby Roode (Bound For Glory Series Match)
Your winner, Crimson. Good opening match that featured lots of power on both sides. I enjoy seeing both Roode and Samoa Joe at zero points and a potential storyline may be forming for a comeback in the rankings.
Crimson is getting a major push and continues to improve each week.
Match Rating: 3.5/5
Abyss is backstage angrily looking for his lost mask. Brian Kendrick is shown wearing it.
Back from commercial, Kendrick calls out Abyss to give his mask back. After Kendrick talks and gives back the mask, Abyss attacks Kendrick.
Anthony Nese versus Jesse Sorensen versus Jack Evans (X-Division Qualifier)
Your winner, Jack Evans. Another great X-Division match to watch. Again, great action in the ring and it was fast paced. Evans was way over with the crowd and his finisher is just unbelievable to watch.
Match Rating: 5/5
We see the British Invasion backstage, Ultimate X participants and Sting stinging with Angle talking with him.
ODB and Jackie versus Velvet Sky (Handicap Match)
Your winner, Velvet Sky. With the win, Jackie and ODB are no longer allowed in the Impact! Zone. However, I can not see this storyline ended as of right now. Decent Knockouts action.
Match Rating: 3/5
AJ Styles versus Christopher Daniels versus Jerry Lynn versus Rob Van Dam
Your winner, Rob Van Dam. Very good match. Given more time, such as a pay per view setting, this would have been even better. All wrestlers are looking very good for this Sunday's Destination X event.
Match Rating: 4/5
Matt Morgan and James Storm versus DVon and The Pope (Bound For Glory Series Match)
Your winner, DVon. Decent match, as we got to see the tension grow with DVon and The Pope. On a side note, DVon is performing well in the Bound For Glory rankings.
Match Rating: 3/5
Before the main event, we see Jeff and Karren Jarrett from Mexico, Destination X lineup card for this Sunday. Backstage, Hulk Hogan lays out Sting before the match.
Immortal (Bully Ray, Scott Steiner and Gunner) versus Kurt Angle and Sting
Your winner, Immortal. Sting was laid out backstage so Angle had to do all the work. Mr. Anderson turned on Angle during the end of the match and joined Immortal with Hulk Hogan's approval. Decent main event to end the show.
Match Rating: 3/5
Overall Impact! Wrestling Rating: 3.5/5
Grade: B
PERAGINE'S THOUGHTS:
Overall, it was another good Impact! Wrestling show. TNA is on the right direction this past month and the positives are really beginning to show. The show featured another good week of wrestling and the X-Division qualifiers are just amazing to see.
As a mater of fact, there were over 34 minutes of wrestling on this week's edition, which is a good number.
Also, there was less Sting and Hogan on the program. It is good not to over expose the feud and it could benefit in the future when we may see a potential match between the two.
Backstage segments were just fine and the two X-Division matches, plus seeing the final Destination X lineup card will have me buying the pay per view. this Sunday.
Very good month of TNA Impact! Wrestling. Hopefully, with the direction TNA is taking, it will lead to where they've never gone before. Another good show, I would recommend it in case you missed it.
