UFC 132 Looks to Silence the Critics

May 31, 2018

It is the job of the people that work for the UFC to try and sell their pay-per-views no matter how terrible they may be.

While many will believe that the card for UFC 132 will be weak, the amount of talent mixed with experience will make this a very memorable card.

Starting with the very beginning of the card, the fact that the UFC is now streaming live fights on facebook is not only great for fight fans, but it’s great for the promotion of UFC as a company.

There will be four matches streamed on facebook starting at around 6 pm EDT, and they will be followed by two live matches on Spike TV. For those people who were on the fence about ordering the pay-per-view, these are enough of an appetizer to intrigue them into ordering the event.

Even with no one expecting huge numbers from this PPV, there is no shortage of fights that could be amazing.

Most people who follow MMA know that Tito Ortiz should stop fighting, but the idea of this being his last fight isn’t sitting well. With what could be his last career fight coming against The Ultimate Fighter winner Ryan Bader, it's like a proverbial changing of the guards for the sport of MMA.

After Ortiz loses and says his final UFC goodbyes, it may be time to watch another MMA legend retire. UFC and all around MMA great Wanderlei Silva isn’t getting any younger, and a rash of recent injuries mean the end of his career is near. Silva will fight Chris Leben in the co-main event, and Leben will have no problem ending Silva’s night and career if possible.

With the possibility of a fantastic undercard, the main event will have much to live up to. With UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz and crowd favorite Urijah Faber headlining the event, there still should be plenty of fireworks for the fourth of July weekend.

Faber came to the UFC when the organization bought the WEC and combined the talents, and he has started on the path for the bantamweight title because he struggled fighting at featherweight.

With all of the hype around Faber, Cruz is the one holding the title, and he is the one that will have the advantage in this fight.

Cruz is the toughest man in the bantamweight division, but Faber is the only blemish on his professional record. While Faber has the only victory against the other, Cruz has become the better fighter and will dominate Faber in the octagon.

This PPV may look like it is not a great card, but if you look at the individual matchups, UFC is getting as much bang out of its buck as possible for this show.
