The Minnesota Timberwolves will undergo their most crucial step of pre-draft workouts today. Nine possible draftees will be working out for the Timberwolves as this should be a very important day for these nine and the Minnesota organization.
Top prospects, including Arizona forward Derrick Williams and the Turkish big man Enes Kanter, highlight the workout, with several well recognizable names also participating such as Colorado guard Alec Burks, Washington guard Isaiah Thomas, and Oakland center Keith Benson.
Virginia Tech guard Malcolm Delaney, Utah State forward Tai Wesley, University of Mary guard Anthony Moody, and Wofford guard Jamar Diggs will also be attending the workout.
These players are expected to be second round draft picks next week, so the Timberwolves may be looking to add a second round pick or two to select one or more of these prospects, since they currently do not hold one due to the Michael Beasley trade.
While the Timberwolves will definitely be watching Williams intently, the prospect who makes more sense in drafting, Kanter, will be equally as watched, if not more. Kanter's ability to play center is what may make him the No. 2 pick in the draft instead of Williams, so this workout should be intriguing to watch.
The other prospect who would make complete sense is Burks. With Minnesota without a true and worthy shooting guard, Timberwolves scouts will be watching his every basketball skill.
As previously stated, today will be a crucial workout for these nine prospects and the Timberwolves as a franchise. At least one of these prospects is sure to be drafted by Minnesota come draft day.
