WWE Should Get Deuce 'n Domino Back and Quick! Find Out Why (CvC)
As you're reading this, you're probably scratching your head, with a big question mark in the eyes wondering "Deuce 'n Domino?" Or, as Stone Cold would say, "What?"; Why should those greaser characters get a second chance with WWE?
If I didn't take the time to stop and think about them in regard of a grandest scheme, I would also wonder why should anyone care about them?
Before I decided to accept the challenge, I made a list of potential names I could work on for the CvC contest. I thought about Muhammad Hassan first and then about a few others, such as Kevin Thorne or Colt Cabana. However, none of them has the potential to bring to the table as much as Deuce 'n Domino.
I also considered many others, but either they're too old or they left the company by themselves. With the aging roster, there's no need for old ex-main event wrestlers; and, if we talk about actually deserving a second chance, we must talk about misused talents in a previous run.
If, at first sight, it's not obvious, Deuce 'n Domino indeed deserve to make a return with the WWE, for one main reason: They would bring everything WWE needs. So, now, allow me deconstruct the reasons why they should come back in the dying tag team division.
They have a great balance between youth and experience
At the age of 39, Deuce, also known as Sim Snuka or Jimmy Snuka Jr, is not exactly young. However, he is still in great shape and he certainly has three-four years ahead of him. And, most important, wrestling runs in his veins.
The transition between the Deuce and Sim Snuka characters failed big time because he didn't fit in Randy Orton's Legacy despite his second-generation status. Snuka was then released, the creative not knowing what to do with him.
Domino, now working under the name of Cliff Compton, was released in 2008 after he became a jobber in solo. He was rehired in 2010 and he is currently working in the WWE Developmental Territory, the Ohio Valley Wrestling promotion (OVW).
At the age of 31, Compton is fairly young and he became a two-time OVW Heavyweight Champion. So, as you can see, I'm not the only one to see his potential and to think he deserves a second chance.
They are a legit tag team
Deuce 'n Domino gained a very valuable experience by being the WWE Tag Team Champion for a very respectable reign of 133 days.
They would be something rare in WWE nowadays, a legit tag team. They had an amazing chemistry for over three years together and that's something crucial.
They can be a pillar in a revived tag team division. With them and some other duos, tag team wrestling can become entertaining and intense.
The WWE fans always enjoyed two-on-two action with actual storylines and it's possible to build something solid with so many singles wrestlers on the roster who are going nowhere. With a good mix of legit tag teams and new random duos, it would bring credibility and life to the division.
They have an unlimited entertainment potential
With their greaser persona, Deuce 'n Domino have a gem of a gimmick and that is what's lacking in WWE nowadays. With such a gimmick, they can be the perfect heels as they once were and they can adapt it to a face run as well.
They also have very decent mic skills to cut interesting promos, especially Domino, who's currently doing great in OVW with his new Mr. Media gimmick. He proved he was a genuine showman as of late and he is completely rejuvenated since he signed back.
The duo can have a solid two-year run together, until Deuce can't follow due to his age. Then, they can break up to create a memorable storyline to eventually let Domino going in singles with his Mr. Media character.
With an actual feud between both men, the creative could repair the wrong they did to them in 2008 with their unfinished business. The WWE dropped the ball too quick with the Deuce 'n Domino disbanding angle and it's more than time to fix that mess.
The creative team should seize the opportunity while it's not too late and not much effort would be required. The reunion storyline can be written by itself since we have not seen them for nearly three years so they could be re-introduced with ease.
So, if we look beyond Deuce 'n Domino, there is a potentially huge star in the making with Compton. I have seen some OVW footage of him and he will undoubtedly shine in the top of the mid-card division and he can certainly make his way higher if he is used properly.
Oh! And we must not forget Cherry, who would bring an extra dimension to the whole deal!
In terms of a pure entertainment perspective, Deuce 'n Domino are a gold mine for the WWE. Many consider them as two nobodies, but it's not a bad thing when we think about the freshness they could bring in the ring.
They have a cool and versatile gimmick they can use as heels or as faces, so there's no valid reason not to put them together again.
They are the past, the present and the future. With Deuce, a second-generation wrestler, the Old School fans can connect with him since he's Jimmy Snuka's son.
As a tandem that can have a two- or three-year run, they can put life in the agonizing tag team division. And, with Domino, they have a future reliable superstar in singles competition.
So, as you could see, with The Boys From The Other Side Of The Tracks, it's a win-win deal for everyone and that's why they're more than deserving of a second chance to shine.
