UFC 132 Fight Card: Urijah Faber vs. Dominick Cruz and More Predictions

1 of 6

At the end of a busy month of June and the start of July, UFC 132 will take place in Las Vegas and feature the biggest 135-pound showdown in the history of the sport of MMA between, Urijah Faber and current bantamweight champion, Dominick Cruz.

These two fighters have met once before at the featherweight level, and will meet again come July 2nd. With some bad blood between the two, it should make for an interesting fight.

Then you have a battle between the big guys, former UFC light heavyweight champion, Tito Ortiz, and Ryan "Darth" Bader.

Along with that light heavyweight showdown you have a bout between middleweights, Chris Leben, and Wanderlei Silva.

Dennis Siver vs. Matt Wiman

2 of 6

    Lightweight bout

Dennis Siver (18-7 MMA, 7-4 UFC)

Nine wins by submission, five by knockout, four by decision

Four losses by submission, two by decision, one by knockout

Matt Wiman (13-5 MMA, 7-3 UFC)

Five wins by decision, four by knockout, four by submission

Four losses by decision, one by knockout

Breakdown: In his last fight against George Sotiropoulos, Dennis Siver stopped every takedown, and that isn't easy with a guy of G-Sots ability.

So coming into this match against a wrestler Siver is well prepared. Siver has excellent striking and if he is able to stop the takedown again, it could be another win for the German kickboxer, Siver.

    Prediction: Siver via unanimous decision

Carlos Condit vs. Dong Hyun Kim

3 of 6

    Welterweight bout

Carlos Condit (26-5 MMA, 3-1 UFC)

13 wins by submission, 12 by knockout, one by decision

Three by submission, two by decision

Dong Hyun Kim (14-0-1 [1 NC] MMA, 5-0 [1 NC] UFC)

Seven wins by decision, six by knockout, one by submission

    No losses

Breakdown: If Faber vs. Cruz wasn't on this card I could seriously see this fight making a go for "Fight of the Night" honors. This bout features two good fighters and top welterweights. I feel Condit will be able to stop Kim's takedowns and keep the fight standing.

But Condit will be aware of Kim's knockout abilities. Either way, ground or standing I feel Condit is going to be comfortable and able to get the win.

    Prediction: Condit by unanimous decision

Tito Ortiz vs. Ryan Bader

4 of 6

    Light Heavyweight bout

Tito Ortiz (15-8-1 MMA, 14-8-1 UFC)

Eight wins by knockout, five by decision, two by submission

Four losses by decision, two by knockout, two by submission

Ryan "Darth" Bader (12-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC)

Five wins by knockout, four by decision, three by submission

    One loss by submission

Breakdown: Bader is coming off of a loss to Jon Jones earlier this year and is a really good young fighter. Then you look at Tito Ortiz, who hasn't won a fight since I was a freshman in high school (October of 2006).

You can only imagine who I'm picking here. Bader has enough ability on the ground and standing to beat Ortiz and start his march to the light heavyweight title contender picture.

Prediction: Bader via first round TKO

Wanderlei Silva vs. Chris Leben

5 of 6

    Middleweight bout

Chris Leben (25-7 MMA, 11-6 UFC)

13 wins by knockout, six by submission, six by decision

Three losses by decision, two by submission, two by knockout

Wanderlei Silva (33-10-1 [1 NC] MMA, 3-5 UFC)

23 wins by knockout, seven wins by decision, three by decision

Five losses by knockout, five by decision

Breakdown: Here would be another pick of mine for "Fight of the Night" honors. Leben and Silva are great strikers and it will be an absolute war standing between these two.

Unfortunately for the devastating knockout artist, Silva, Leben has an iron chin, or whatever the toughest metal is. That is the kind of chin Leben has. It will be very tough for Silva who has been absent from inside the Octagon for more then a year. Sorry, Silva.

Prediction: Leben via second round TKO

Urijah Faber vs. Dominick Cruz (c)

6 of 6

    Bantamweight Title Bout

Urijah Faber (25-4 MMA, 1-0 UFC)

13 wins by submission, seven wins by knockout, four by decision, one by disqualification

Two losses by knockout, two by decision

Dominick Cruz (17-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC)

Ten wins by decision, six by knockout, one by submission

    One loss by submission

Breakdown: I'm super excited for this fight (Mostly because I like watching the smaller divisions fight) and it will be a tough fight both ways. Faber is a very well-rounded fighter with good wrestling skills mixed in with good striking. The same could be said of Cruz who has some good wrestling and his striking is no joke either.

These two have already met once before this and Faber took the fight by first-round submission, so I think Cruz will be trying to stay away from Faber's submission skills this time around. Faber has shown that if you're a better striker, you can beat him.

Not this time, I think already having a win under his belt against Cruz gives Faber the mental edge and readies himself for this fight. Even though that fight was four years ago.

Anyone else think Cruz will be mad because I put Faber's name first and only put a picture of Faber?

    Prediction: Faber via unanimous decision
