Bellator 44 Results: Live Play-by-Play for the Entire Fight Card

In only a few hours, Bellator Middleweight Champion Hector Lombard will meet Falaniko Vitale in a non-title bout and the winner of the Bellator Season 4 Lightweight Tournament will be crowned as Patricky Freire takes on Michael Chandler.

Jay Silva vs. Gemiyale Adkins

Round 1

Jay Adkins lands the first punch, but it is quickly answered by Gemiyale Adkins. Silva lands a kick, but Adkins answers with an overhand right. Shortly after, Adkins shot in for a double leg, but Silva defends.

Adkins eventually presses Silva to the cage and completes a takedown. Silva quickly reverses position, though, and begins landing knees to the body of Adkins.

As Adkins begins to stand, Silva blasts him with an illegal knee that brings a stop to the action.

Silva lands a kick to the body and presses the action until the bell signals the end of the round.

B/R scores the round 10-9 for Silva.

Round 2

Both fighters exchange leg kicks to start the round.

Silva runs Adkins into the fence and throws him to the canvas. Silva then transitions from side control to take Adkins back, but he is unable to force a finish.

Adkins stands and quickly attempts to take Silva down with a single leg. Silva defends the takedown rather easily despite Adkins' best efforts.

B/R scores the round 10-9 for Silva.

Round 3

After the two fighters start off the round at a light pace, Silva lands a hard leg kick that forces Adkins to shoot in for a takedown. 

Silva defends and begins landing knees to the body of Adkins. A final hard knee to the midsection forces another takedown attempt from Adkins.

B/R scores the round 10-9 for Silva (30-27 Silva).

Silva defeats Adkins by unanimous decision (30-26, 30-27, 30-27).

Anthony Leone vs. Jeff Lentz

Round 1

Anthony Leone starts the fight winging punches and missing, but he finishes the combination with a leg kick that does land.

Leone hits Jeff Lentz with two more hard leg kicks and then drives him into the fence with a double leg. Lentz defends and attempts a takedown of his own, but all he gets is a hard knee from Leone.

B/R scores the round 10-9 for Leone.

Round 2

Leone shoots early and takes Lentz down against the fence. Lentz uses the fence to stand quickly, though, and eventually breaks free from Leone.

Leone lands two grazing head kicks, but eats a hard right hands from Lentz. Leone answers with a right hand of his own and then lands yet another leg kick.

Leone attempts to take Lentz down again, but is denied and begins eating some knees to the body. Leone drops down for a leg lock, but Lentz fights it off until the bell.

B/R scores the round 10-9 for Lentz.

Round 3

Leone comes out trying to land more leg kicks, but Lentz is prepared for them now and is checking most of them.

Leone lands a superman punch and starts an exciting back-and-forth exchange.

Leone is rocked and forces a sloppy takedown attempt. Lentz defends and Leone is forced to defend a guillotine choke.

B/R scores the round 10-9 for Lentz (29-28 Lentz).

Lentz defeats Leone by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

Alexander Schlemenko vs. Brett Cooper

Round 1

Alexander Schlemenko attempts a spinning back fist and lands a knee to the body of Brett Cooper. Schlemenko lands a hard left hook and Coopers eye is already swollen badly.

Schlemenko catches a kick and drops Cooper. Schlemenko allows Cooper to stand and then lands a straight left.

Schelemenko lands a spinning back kick. The Russian is putting on a striking clinic.

Another spinning back kick sends Cooper backpeddling. Schelemenko blasts Cooper with a spinning back fist, but gets rocked with a right hand from Cooper.

Schlemnko presses forward, though, with an uppercut and a left hand that drops Cooper. Cooper grabs Schlemenko's leg and stands.

Schelemnko lands another spinning back fitst and is scoring with some nice combinations as the round ends.

B/R scores the round 10-9 for Schlemenko.

Round 2

Schlemenko counters a right with a left hook, then dodges an uppercut and lands another left hook. Schlemenko lands an elbow against the fence and grazes Cooper with a spinning back kick.

Schlemenko lands a left hook to the body and right hook to the head. Schlemenko rushes in and gets dropped with a right hand from Cooper.

Cooper takes Schlem down and takes his opponents back, but he isnt able to keep the Russian on the ground.

Schlemenko reverses and lets Cooper stand. Schlemenko lands another spiinning backfist and spinning back kick.

Cooper takes Schlemenko down, but again he isn't able to keep his opponent down.

B/R scores the round 10-9 for Schlemenko.

Round 3

More spinning back fists and spinning back kicks to begin the round for Schlemenko. Schlemenko clinches and lands a knee to the body of Cooper.

Schlemenko lands yet another back fist and a hard right. Cooper attempts a takedown, but Schlemnko defensds.

Schlemenko clinches and drops Cooper with a knee to the body and head. Schlemenko allows Cooper to stands and blasts him with a right hook.

Cooper is wining uppercuts in the final moments of the fight, but it might be too little too late.

B/R scores the round 10-9 for Schlemenko (30-27 Schlemenko).

Schlemenko defeats Cooper by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-28, 29-28).

Giedrius Karavackas vs. Sam Oropeza

Round 1

Sam Oropeza lands two hard body kicks to start the action. Giedrius Karavackas presses the actions, but Oropeza dodges his punches and starts throwing head kicks.

Oropeza lands a grazing straight left and backs Karavackas up with a head kick. Karavackas takes Oropeza's back, though, and is looking to take the fight to the ground.

Oropeza attempts a kimura, but loses it and ends up in Karavackas' guard. Oropeza postures up and lands a hard left hand that rocks Karavackas at the end of the round.

B/R scores the round 10-9 Oropeza.

Round 2

Karavackas' nose is bloodied to start the round and a left straight from Oropeza won't help the bleeding.

Karavackas rushes Oropeza and presses him against the fence with a body lock. Oropeza breaks free and lands an inside leg kick.

Oropeza lands a kick to the body, but Karackas clinches. The fighters trade punches and knees to the body before Karavackas throws Oropeza to the ground.

Oropeza uses to cage to stand, but Karavackas still has a hold of him.

Oropeza takes Karavackas down, though, and is dropping left hands and elbows as the round comes to an end.

B/R scores the round 10-9 Oropeza.

Round 3

Karavackas rushes Oropeza and takes the fight to the ground quickly. Oropeza is attempted to roll for a leg lock, but he is eating hammerfists in the process. Karavackas passes to side control and traps Oropeza's arm.

Karavackas is using the trapped arm to pound away with short left hands, but he is passing up the opportunity to put pressure on Oropeza's shoulder for a submission. Finally, Karavackas cranks on Oropezas arm and forces the tap.

Karavackas defeated by Oropeza submission (arm lock) at 3:59 of the third round.

Hector Lombard vs. Falaniko Vitale

Round 1

Hector Lombard throws a left hand, but Falaniko Vitale ducks it and lands a knee.

Vitale lands a straight right and is dodging Lombards punches rather easily. Vitale lands a front kick to the midsection of Lombard.

Vitale lands a kick to the groin and the action is stopped.

Lombard clips Vitale with a left hook and then slips. Lombard stands and pressures Vitale to the fence with a flurry. Vitale circles to the center of the cage and out of trouble.

Lombard scores on a left hook and inside leg kick combination at the end of the round.

B/R scores the round 10-9 Lombard.

Round 2

Lombard comes out much more aggressive this round, but Vitale is doing a good job of avoiding his strikes. Lombard lands a kick to the body, though.

Vitale blocks a left hook, but takes a couple leg kicks from Lombard. Lombard lands a left head kick, but Vitale looks unaffected.

Vitale lands a straight right and Lombard shoots in for a takedown attempt. Vitale stands quickly and eats a combination on the way up.

Lombard scores a leg kick with 30 seconds remaining in the round.

Vitale continues to block left head kick attempts from Lombard, but he isn't mounting enough offense of his own to threaten Lombard.

B/R scores the round 10-9 Lombard.

Round 3

Vitale is landing some straight right hands, but Lombard is countering with right hooks.

As Vitale loads up for a right uppercut, Lombard blasts him with a right hook that knocks Vitale down. Vitale is hurt badly as he stands up.

Lombard stares at Vitale briefly before Vitale falls right back down and the fight is stopped.

Lombard defeats Vitale by knockout at 0:54 of the third round.

Patricky Freire vs. Michael Chandler

Round 1

Patricky Freire eats a short left hook from Michael Chandler. Freire answers with a nice combination.

Chandler ducks a left hook. Both fighters are feeling out eachother's movement early on.

Freire slips on a head kick attempt, but stands quickly and lands a knee to the body of Chandler. Chandler returns with a kick to the cup of Freire and time is called.

Chandler lands a push kick and a hard right rook. Chandler ducks a right hook and lands two leg kicks.

Chandler attempts a takedown but Freire defends nicely. Both fighters trade jabs before Chandler presses the action and lands a kick to the body.

B/R scores the round 10-9 Chandler.

Round 2

Freire lands a left hook and head kick. Chandler answers with a hard right hook.

Freire fires right back with a flying knee and presses the action. Chandler presses right back and slips.

Freire attempts a flying knee and Chandler hits Freire with a knee to the groin shortly after.

Chandler scores an inside leg kick then follows that up with a left hook. Freire answers with a nice combination and counters with a hard right hand that opens up Chandler.

Chandler attempts a takedown, but it is defended. Freire backs up Chandler with a jab. The fighters trade left hooks.

Freire throws a kick to the body, but it is caught by Chandler, who takes the fight to the ground and blasts Freire with a right hand at the bell.

B/R scores the round 10-9 Chandler.

Round 3

Chandler attempts an inside leg kick that lands to the cup of Freire. Action stops and a point is deducted from Chandler.

Chandler scores a straight left. Freire lands a grazing head kick and a hard left hook.

Chandler eats a left as he attempts a double leg takedown. Against the fence, Chandler lifts Freire and slams into guard.

Chandler is raining down elbows now. Two minutes remaining and Freire stands, but Chandler takes him back down with a slam.

Chandler is landing right hands from the half guard with one minute remaining. Chandler lands a hard elbow and time runs out.

Chandler defeats Freire by unanimous decision (29-27, 29-27, 29-27).
