Well a few months ago at Summerslam we saw the match that we never though was going to happen. John Cena faced Batista in a match that was supposed to be destined for Wrestlemania, but I'm not complaining.
It had me thinking of other dream matches that would be awesome to see. I'm not talking about the lackluster Hogan/Austin or Rocky/Cena crap. I'm talking about matches that make you say, "Holy crap, yes!" when you hear about them. I don't do that when I hear the Austin/Hogan buzz going around for the millionth time. I want something better than that.
So I comprised a list of many awesome encounters that you might not think about right off the top of your head. I hope you like it:
Bret Hart vs. Kurt Angle in a submission match: This is one of those "well duh" matches. When you think of the two greatest mat wrestlers you think of Kurt Angle and Bret Hart and just imagine what might happen if these two were in the ring together. If Bret Hart had a amazing match with Steve Austin then his match with Kurt Angle would have been spectacular.
Unfortunately, we all know this one will never happen. Bret hasn't stepped in the ring in a decade and Kurt is no spring chicken either, but you can't blame a guy for dreaming.
AJ Styles vs. Rob Van Dam: I had AJ Styles in mind for this article due to the fact that there are a lot of guys he has not been in matches with in the WWE. I thought about the awesome matches he might be able to have with the likes of Shawn Michaels, Rey Mysterio, or John Morrison, but Van Dam keep popping up in the back of my head.
Van Dam and Styles in the same ring together. Both men are known for being unconventional in the ring and seeing them go at it with all of their high impact and off the wall moves would be a pleasure to watch no doubt. Maybe throw a couple of tables and ladders in there too. Then you have a hell of a match on your hands.
I don't see much of a chance of this one happening either. RVD said if he returns its with WWE no doubt and TNA is like Style's baby. Oh well that is another one left up to the imagination.
John Morrison vs. Petey Williams vs. Shelton Benjamin vs. Chris Sabin in a ladder match: Okay maybe this one is a little out there, but I can't think of four better young athletes out there right now than these four guys. Now I know the ladder stipulation might be a bit much, but I coupldn't help myself. These are "dream matches" and this is defiantly a dream. Petey and Sabin are two very good reasons to watch Impact on Thursday's and Morrison and Benjamin have always been top notch in whatever they do.
These men can find so many different ways to ware down their other opponents and watchingthem destroy each other in a ladder match would be nothing but sheer awesomeness.
Samoa Joe vs The Undertaker: WOW! Alright I don't even know where to begin. These tow big match players have allot in common. They like their space and they both physically dominate their opponents in every way possible. Which would make this one of the most brutal matches ever. Both are capable of flying over the top rope or simply locking thier opponets in a deadly submission.
Both men are so versatile that if in the same match then they might kill each other trying to beat the other man just to prove that they can. There is no way in hell this match is happening. Good thing to, because they might end up ending each others careers trying to win.
Ricky Steamboat vs.Shawn Michaels: Do I even need to say anything? Shawn Michaels is the present day "Dragon" and if they had both fought each other in there "twilight years" then this would have been one for the ages.
They would have spent the majority of the match countering each other and working down one another with submissions and high impact moves. Both of them are so brilliant in the ring. They know how to look, act,and most importantly react, that they would have one of most amazing matches ever. Too bad its about 20 years over due.
