NBA Fantasy Basketball: 2008-09 Sleeper Picks
Point Guard (PG) | Shooting Guard (SG) | Small Forward (SF) | Power Forward (PF) | Center (C) | Draft Guide
For this years potential sleepers I am taking a look at all 30 NBA teams, and picking one (ok, maybe two) guy off each squad who should have a fantasy impact this year. These sleepers will be drafted in the last few rounds, if at all, so make sure to keep an eye on them.
Acie Law, PG, Atlanta Hawks
The point guard of the Hawks future needs to produce today. Watch his minutes and stats early in the season.
Leon Powe, PF, Boston Celtics
Powe made a big splash in the playoffs and it was no fluke. Powe is in his third year, and he should be the first big man off the bench.
Adam Morrison, SF, Charlotte Bobcats
If he can come back from knee surgery strong, Morrison will add a scoring punch to your lineup.
Tyrus Thomas, F, Chicago Bulls
If he can play 20 plus minutes a game, he will boost your block numbers.
Ben Wallace, F-C, Cleveland Cavilers
In his first full season with the Cavs, Big Ben will find his niche. He won't make it to the free agent wire.
Brandon Bass, F, Dallas Mavericks
Bass blossomed last season with a 49.9 field goal, and 82.2 free throw percentage.
Chris Anderson, C, Denver Nuggets
The Bird Man is back in Denver, and will play with Camby gone.
Rodney Stuckey, G, Detroit Pistons
Hot Rod is climbing up peoples draft lists. He can play the 1, or 2, a true combo guard.
Marcus Williams, PG, Golden State Warriors
With Monta Ellis hurt, Williams will fill the point guard role.
Aaron Brooks, PG, Houston Rockets
Brooks' appearance is not impressive, but he has an above average scoring ability.
Brandon Rush, G-F, Indiana Pacers
Rush should generate numbers in all categories.
Ricky Davis, G-F, and Al Thornton, SF, Los Angles Clippers
Davis can produce triple-double numbers. Thornton has inconsistent but explosive scoring ability.
Jordan Farmar, PG, and Trevor Ariza, SF, Los Angles Lakers
Farmar will spell veteran Fisher. Ariza moved up in Phil Jackson's book and gets in the passing lanes.
Mike Conley, PG, Memphis Grizzlies
Conley will start the season just after his 21st birthday. He has added strength, and will cut down on mistakes.
Marcus Banks, PG, Miami Heat
Miami has plenty of scorers around Banks, who has improved his shooting accuracy.
Ramon Sessions, G, Milwaukee Bucks
In 26 minutes a game Sessions averaged 7.5 assists and one steal per game as a rookie.
Kevin Love, PF, Minnesota Timberwolves
Starting as a rookie, Love has the tools that project to good fantasy numbers.
Chris Douglas-Roberts, G, New Jersey Nets
CDR was disrespected in the draft and has something to prove.
James Posey, SF, New Orleans Hornets
Posey brings his rings to the Hornets, as well as his threes and steals.
Quentin Richardson, G-F, New York Knicks
Shot eight threes per game in his one year with D'Antoni.
Jeff Green, SF, Oklahoma City Thunder
Watch Green's numbers continue to rise as Durant's wingman.
Mickael Pietrus, SG, Orlando Magic
Can the European Michael Jordan have a Turkoglu-like improvement in his game?
Louis Williams, PG, Philadelphia 76ers
Once a heralded prep, Williams has matured into a potential starter one day.
Shaquille O'Neal, C, Phoenix Suns
Usually the first sleeper off the board. If he's healthy, he is still the most dominant player in basketball.
Martell Webster, G-F, Portland Trail Blazers
Webster is an underrated rebounder, who's developed a consistent outside shot.
Spencer Hawes, C, Sacramento Kings
In eight games as a starter he averaged 12.3 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.6 blocks. He is very skilled.
Michael Finley, G-F, San Antonio Spurs
With Manu out, Finley will start and play increased minutes.
Anthony Parker, G, Toronto Raptors
Candy's bro will get you double digit scoring and steals.
Ronnie Brewer, SG, and Paul Millsap, PF, Utah Jazz
Brewer is a high percentage shooter and steal expert. Millsap bangs the boards.
