About a week ago Stone Cold Steve Austin conducted an interview with http://xfinitytv.comcast.net/ stating that he believes he could still wrestle for two years at about 90-95 percent of what he used to give.
I will post the link for the interview at the end of this article as he talks about other things as well.
Holmes: You've been hearing chants of “one more match” ever since you retired. And, I know you’ve addressed that prospect before and I know you’ve had a lot of injuries. The question I’m asking is: if you had that match and could perform at the top of your abilities, who would you want to go against?
Austin: That’d be an interesting scenario. That dream match that never happened in a lot of people’s mind is Austin/(Hulk) Hogan. But, in the current crop? I don’t really know. It would have been neat to work against a John Cena. Or the Rock or Undertaker or Triple H again. But that one dream match that never happened was Austin/Hogan. I could still, you know if I was in a bad situation, I could still get two years out of my carcass on a full-time basis.
Holmes: Oh yeah?
Austin: At about 90, 95 percent of what I used to do.
For me, Austin is one of the all-time greats and one of my personal favorites. Every single time the glass would shatter and his music would hit I would be excited beyond belief.
The Stone Cold Stunner was even my favourite finishing move, and one that I still use today with my created wrestlers in games.
Having not wrestled in the WWE since 2004, a return would most definitely be welcomed. The chances may be slim, but I doubt there is a fan out there who would not love to see him return to wrestling once more.
If he were to return though, could we expect to see him going for gold or possibly putting over younger stars.
With Tough Enough currently airing it is unlikely he will return to the ring any time soon, but if he does it will definitely lead to higher ratings.
It was mentioned in the interview that Austin likes Randy Orton but thinks he could get better. With the two sharing similar traits and personality, a returning Austin could definitely push Orton to the next level.
To my knowledge the two have never had a match before and with Orton formerly being known as the Legend Killer, Austin is one legend he has not beat. With Austin being a sure fan favourite then Orton would have to become a heel once again.
Viper versus Rattlesnake, a feud for the ages.
Another thing of note is that CM Punk is apparently destined for something greater, and with Austin appearing to have a lot of respect for him then he could help Punk reach what everyone believes he should have in his hands, a world title.
Austin even mentioned in the interview that a feud with CM Punk would be an interesting one to have due to the contrasting lifestyles. CM Punk being straight edge and Austin being a beer guzzling machine.
The question I pose to you all: Would you be excited for an Austin in-ring return and what superstars should he feud with?
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed.
