Ted Ginn, Jr. and Miami Dolphins Cannot Be Written Off

Roberto Alvarez-GallosoSep 30, 2008

On Oct. 5, 2008, the Miami Dolphins will be playing against the San Diego Chargers. While the Miami Dolphins defeated the New England Patriots last Sunday, they still lost their first two games to the New York Jets and the Arizona Cardinals.

I have decided to take advantage of the days leading up to this important game by writing about Ted Ginn, Jr.

Many people have mixed feelings about Ginn Jr. as a wide receiver for the team. There have been people who have wanted to blame him for the 2007 season, which was a disaster. There are people who have wanted to blame him for Miami's performance in the current 2008 season.

The people that blame Ginn Jr. also have made comments that he is not making progress, and that the Miami Dolphins do not know what they are doing.

The people who play the blame game only glanced at his statistics in the NFL. Again, I have always said that not one person is to blame for the failure of the team. The Dolphins win or lose games depending on their teamwork or lack there of, as well as their confidence in the coach and/or management or lack there of.

I am tired of people blaming Ted Ginn, Jr. for all of the troubles within the Dolphins' organization. The time has come to talk about what Ginn Jr. has accomplished in the 2008 season.

He led the Dolphins in receptions once this season and it would not be a surprise if he did it again. He managed to catch the football eight times for 75 yards. He also has started all three games of the current season.

He has two punt returns for 62 yards, as well as scoring one touchdown. One of his accomplishments in the preseason was eight catches for 97 yards. It is unfair to ask more of him in the beginning of the season, especially when there have only been three games.

He must be given an opportunity to prove himself before passing judgment on his NFL career.

I have some advice for the critics. It is unwise to underestimate Ted Ginn, Jr. because he has looked adversity in the face and risen above the occasion. It is also not fair to underestimate the Miami Dolphins.

They may have lost their first two games, but they gave the New England Patriots a humiliating defeat. I wish Ted Ginn, Jr. and the Miami Dolphins the best against the San Diego Chargers.
