Matt Hardy's Labyrinth

Charlie GSenior Writer IMarch 13, 2011

Labyrinthan intricate combination of paths or passages in which it is difficult to find one's way or to reach the exit.

Part of Matt Hardy's labyrinth is his being stuck in the mid-card dilemma, but that's not what I'm going to talk about.

Most wrestling fans know about Matt's move to Total Nonstop Action (TNA) earlier this year. TNA Genesis– on January 9, 2011 to be exact.

Since his debut in TNA, Matt has been a loyal member to Eric Bischoff's and Hulk Hogan's faction, Immortal. Standing by their side and fighting for control of TNA.

I am a fan of Matt Hardy and like seeing him in a TNA ring, but I have one problem with how he is being used in TNA.

Since his debut he has served as a roadblock to anyone who wants to fight his brother, Jeff.

Rob Van Dam wanted a piece of Hardy at Genesis. Little did he know, Matt Hardy was in the building and accepted RVD's challenge and even defeated him in his TNA debut. From Genesis to Against All Odds, Matt served as a road block for former World Heavyweight Champion, Rob Van Dam.

Matt had RVD's attention which prevented RVD from going after Jeff.

Van Dam defeated Matt at Against All Odds and got through to get his revenge on Jeff. Matt's roadblock would only last so long; for Van Dam that is.

On the February 3rd edition of iMPACT, Fortune turned face and attacked Immortal. Fortune leader, AJ Styles, said he wasn't taking a backseat to anybody, hinting at an AJ Styles vs. Jeff Hardy feud for the belt.

Someone else wants to get to Jeff? Insert Matt.

Since February 3rd, Matt has been used as AJ Styles' bump in the road. Matt is being used, yet again, to prevent someone from getting to his brother.

Matt and AJ have a match scheduled for Victory Road tonight. Matt will probably win via outside help (Ric Flair) and cause a Team Flair vs. Team Styles at Lockdown, which Team AJ will win, thus allowing AJ to finally end the feud with Matt.

If this trend does continue (and hopefully it doesn't), who will Matt serve as a roadblock to next? Matt Morgan? Samoa Joe?

Matt Hardy seems to be trapped as Jeff's personal bodyguard. Stopping guys like RVD and AJ Styles from reaching his brother.

The only way I see for Matt to escape his labyrinth is to either win the TV Championship and gain some of his brother's spotlight or turn face and feud with Jeff.

For now, TNA is using Matt as a temporary roadblock for anyone who wants to get to Jeff and I don't like it. Matt should be doing his own thing instead of protecting his brother.
