WWE's WrestleMania 27: 23 Days and Counting: Undisputed

John KindelanMar 12, 2011

Last month I was able to get an early copy of Chris Jericho's new novel: Chris Jericho Undisputed, How to become the world champion in 1,372 easy steps. Being someone who reads autobiographies and has most of the WWE ones I was excited to get a copy of Chris's book. I had read A Lion's Tale and really enjoyed reading about his back story, how his time was in WCW and his travels around the world. I was very excited when I heard that a second book was coming and it would entail his time in the WWE. While Chris may not be a part of the upcoming WrestleMania event there's always hope that he'll make some sort of appearance, maybe to promote his upcoming stint on Dancing with the Stars.

One of Jericho's catchphrases is "I'm the best there is at what I do." and sure he may have stolen that from Marvel comic's Wolverine, I don't think the X-Man would be too upset with his fellow Canadian. Because Jericho is the best at what he does, and what that is, is entertain. An athlete, an actor a story teller, he gives it all when he's in front of a crowd. Undisputed goes over all that and gives us a look into the mind and drive behind his thoughts on why he does what he does. Whether it be in front of a WWE crowd or in front of his heavy metal fans for his group Fozzy, Jericho's purpose is to make the crowd react.

The chapters of Undisputed go back and forth between his time in the WWE, from the moment he interrupted The Rock and the Millennium clock ticked down, to the birth of his band Fozzy and what its become since it started out as just something fun to do with friends.

I remember the night that clock ticked down, being a Jericaholic from the WCW days I had jumped up from my couch and cheered as he stood there arms stretched out and for the first time we heard Break The Walls Down! Little known fact that you learn from Undisputed, Jericho took the arms stretched out with his back to the crowd entrance from Michael Jackson. He had seen the King of Pop do it in concert and decided it would work well for the Ayotollah of Rock and Rolla. Another thing, that first night when he made his WWE debut, if Jericho could, he'd do it differently. He wasn't at all pleased with how it went down and the months that followed in the WWE were difficult for him due to that first night.

The book is full of great insights like that and written in a fashion that lets us, the fans, relate to this guy, whom we watch on TV each week, and think of him as this buddy who's hanging out with us and telling us about his job over a beer, or soda, whatever your old enough to relate to. Jericho takes you on a wild ride through his WWE career and it's interesting to hear all these stories from his relationship with Vince, and how he and The Rock actually became great friends.

With two forewards, one by Mick Foley and the other by Zac Ryder, you know not only is this book going to be good because he's a WWE star who has the respect of his peers. But it's going to be a great autobiography because it really lets you into the world of WWE and into the mind of Chris Jericho. Get out there, and get this book and break the walls down between you the fan and Chris Jericho the entertainer.
