Alright, I am not making a prediction here. However, I doubt I am not the only one who is thinking this.
How awesome would this be?
Vince McMahon opened up the February 7 edition of Monday Night Raw and said that someone will be guest-hosting WrestleMania 27, and it only be someone capable of hosting in front of 75,000 plus fans.
"Each year, there is something special about each WrestleMania, some special moment, some special attraction, something you've never seen before, I assure you that this year will be no different. We will introduce a man that has set a banner, and set a record like no one else, cause no one has ever hosted an event in front of 75,000 people and only one man is capable of doing that." - Vince McMahon
The Rock instantly comes to mind.
The last time we saw him at WrestleMania was seven years ago at WrestleMania XX, when he teamed up with Mick Foley and was defeated by Evolution.
We all know the story from there, he left what he loved to do, to go achieve what he dreamed to do. Hollywood.
The bigger question to ask now is, would he be available to come back and do this?
Currently, in his acting career, he just got done filming Fast Five, and is currently filming Journey 2. Arabian Nights is in production and will likely start filming in the near future. It looks like his schedule could be opening up.
Do you think the WrestleMania 27 host is The Rock?
With a mediocre WrestleMania card, and "Mr. WrestleMania" Shawn Michaels gone, the WWE needs to act quick to spice things up in Hot-Lanta.
This just makes clear and perfect sense.
" ..will I ever come back to the WWE? of course I will..not a match though, but in a capacity that would allow me to do so much more.. I LOVE that company and the fans…without the two I would not be standing where I am today… Vince and myself stay very closely connected and when the opportunity is right – which will be alot sooner than you think – we will do something electrifying and historic for the fans." -The Rock via his official Facebook page
To further clarify these comments, they were said in January of 2010 on David Letterman as well: http://www.youtube.com/user/wweHIGHLIGHTreel#p/u/1/ASJXGshkz3o @ the 6:40 mark.
"I would most likely return in the capacity of hosting."
I don't need to reiterate on how amazing it would be to have The Great One come back to WrestleMania and host the event.
Fortunately, Atlanta is my hometown and I have an up close and personal ticket for this event. So, needless to say, I will be glued to my television set next Monday night when the guest host is announced.
Now that I have gotten my hopes all up, I am praying that they won't be smashed into pieces, and that the host will be someone decent if it isn't The Rock.
Again, no prediction here, cause I am just not good at those. This is more wishful thinking if anything, but, I really have a good feeling about this one.
There is something special about nearly every WrestleMania, this one, doesn't really have anything special to it yet. It doesn't get anymore special then The Rock.
I can hear it now, echoing off the roof of the sold out Georgia Dome, "Finally, The Rock... has come back to WrestleMania!"
