Manny Pacquiao, Wladimir Klitschko and Other Predictions for 2011 (with Video)

0 of 9

Now that 2011 is upon us, it is time to stop looking back and look ahead to the future. This year has a lot of potential, but we will also sit through our fair share of disappointments.

I am going to try and help you navigate through what is going to happen this year so the disappointments aren't that big.

We are going to mostly look at the year ahead for bigger stars, but as always I will highlight some lesser known fighters so you can say that you heard of them before they hit the big time.

    So let's get to it.

Manny Pacquiao Isn't Going To Fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. Ever

1 of 9

I'll just get this out of the way first. These two aren't going to fight this year, and quite frankly I will be surprised if they ever fight.

I don't think that either boxer really wants this fight, and Top Rank definitely doesn't want to risk its top fighter against the one man who can beat him.

This isn't the first time a super fight wasn't made, and it won't be the last. It is a letdown, but there are going to be a lot of good fights this year.

Floyd Mayweather Won't Fight in 2011

2 of 9

What you see above is a Mayweather Jr. mug shot. That is the reason he won't be fighting in 2011. It's not that he doesn't want to; it's that his legal troubles will prevent him from fighting.

He has a lot going on, and even if he didn't, there really isn't anyone out there besides Pacquiao. You know how I feel about that.

David Haye Will Fight Wladimir Klitschko

3 of 9

Haye will finally man up and fight Wladimir this year. It may not happen until late in the year, but it will happen.

Haye may fight him because he realizes there is nothing else out there. Haye isn't going to beat him, but he will share the ring with him.

I'm not very confident about this one, but I think it will happen. We know Wladimir wants it so as long as Haye steps up, it will be made.

Vitali Klitschko Will Fight and Beat Tomasz Adamek

4 of 9

I love Adamek, so it is hard to openly admit it, but he just isn't a heavyweight and Vitali is one of the best heavyweights out there.

Adamek is a gutsy fighter and a true testament to boxing, but he can't beat a fighter that is as big and powerful as Vitali is.

I don't know if he is going to knock him out, but that wouldn't be a surprise to me.

Amir Khan Will Become the Man at Light Welterweight

5 of 9

I think Khan will rule the pound-for-pound list for a very long time, so it comes as no surprise that I think he will rule his own division.

Timothy Bradley and Devon Alexander are very good fighters, and they would beat most fighters at their weight, but not Khan.

The winner of that fight will surely face Khan by the end of this year. Khan already beat Marcos Maidana, and this will solidify his position as the man.

Khan has the fastest hands in the sport and is a horrible style matchup for almost any fighter out there.

Juan Manuel Lopez Will Lose Match To Yuriorkis Gamboa

6 of 9

If you are a quick study, you will notice that the video is of Yuriorkis Gamboa and not Lopez. I think that they will finally meet, with Lopez coming out on the short end.

I don't feel overly confident about it, but I think that Gamboa is just a little bit better. If the fight happens, it could end up being the Fight of the Year.

Nonito Donaire Will Finally Earn His Pound-for-Pound Spot

7 of 9

I like Donaire enough, but he is ranked a little too high on most pound-for-pound lists. The fight with Fernando Montiel looks set, and a win over him validates his high ranking.

It's not that his wins are bad or anything; they just aren't good enough to say he is the fourth-best fighter in the world.

I hope he has a big year and gets more exposure, because he is truly a good fighter.

Andre Ward Will Prove He Is the Best 168-Pound Fighter Out There

8 of 9

Ward is going to win the Super Six before this year is out, and he may not be able to fight Lucian Bute this year, but it will come early next year.

A win in the Super Six will all but prove that he is the best super middleweight in the world, and a fight with Bute will be the only thing left for him.

Sergio Martinez Will Have a Letdown in 2011

9 of 9

The last prediction has finally arrived.

I personally love Martinez and hope he follows up his huge 2010, but I don't think he does. He has a ton of talent, heart and drive, but it is going to be hard to do it again.

He had such a great 2010 that he is going to need to have a HUGE 2011 to match it. He may go undefeated this year, but it won't be the same.
