Terrelle Pryor, and 4 other Ohio State players have been suspended for NCAA violations. In Pryor's case he sold collectible items Ohio State gave him as a gift, online. The star Ohio State quarterback will be suspended for the first five games of the 2011 season. This is prompted some speculation that Terrelle will make the decision to go pro now that half his senior season is gone. If Pryor is smart, and this incident doesn't prove that he is, he'll stay another year.

10. Ohio State will be good next Year

Terrell will have a chance to rest the first five games of the season, come back and still compete for a National Championship. Ohio State usually plays a cream puff schedule early on and Pryor will be back just in time to take on the Big 10.

9. He Needs To Show Good Judgment

Playing the quarterback position in the NFL is all about your ability to make good decisions. Nothing scares off teams more than a QB who can’t make sound decisions(see all the teams that wouldn’t touch Vick after he got out of prison). He needs a year to get his reputation back and reassure pro teams that it was a move not indicative of who he is.

8. Ohio State Gets National Exposure

If Pryor sits out, he’ll want to come back to a program that is on the radar of ESPN and other major networks. The last thing he wants to do is return in anonymity. ESPN and the BCS have a torrid love affair with Ohio State, so when he comes back, they’ll make sure the whole world is watching.

7. He’s Coming Off A Disappointing Year At Ohio State

While Pryor played better this season, Ohio State wasn’t impressive. Pryor should know from watching Vince Young and Cam Newton that nothing ups your draft stock than a big performance in the National title game. He’s needs to set his sights on getting there next season.

6. Going Now Would Be A Waste of a Good Year

Pryor made improvements by leaps and bounds this year. He upped his touchdown total to a career high 25. Going now, amidst the suspension and a flush QB class, would only hurt him. Staying in and showing he can do it again, even in a shortened season would be his best bet.

5. He’s Not Cam Newton

He might be looking at Cam Newton’s scandal and thinking he needs to go the same route, but he’s not Cam Newton. Newton has been a special college player about to play on the same stage. Pryor hasn’t been that guy and won’t be held in the same regard.

4. Worst Case Scenario He Plays In The Rose Bowl

Michigan State and Wisconsin were better than expected this year. You won’t count on them to be as good next year. No one else is ready to take over the Big 10. Chances are good that Ohio State wins the Big 10 next year which puts them in the Rose Bowl. If Pryor can’t play for the title, at least he can play at the “Granddaddy of them all.”

3. The QB Class is Too Good This Year

Terrelle Pryor won’t go higher than the second round this year. With Jake Locker, Ryan Mallett, Blaine Gabbert and Cam Newton all on the board(and a slew of other first round studs) Pryor could be looking at a middle second round, even early third round pick. He’d have a better chance of upping his stock by staying a year.

2. Terrelle Pryor Isn’t That Good

Pryor’s development, as summed up by most in one word, has been disappointing. He’s never been the quarterback they thought he was going to be. Ohio State was hoping he’d be the Big 10 version of Michael Vick, but he’s not close to that kind of college player. If he had the talent to go in the top 10 you’d have to tell him to bail, but he doesn’t. He should stay and try and up his stock.

1. He’ll Make More Money Coming Out Next Season

Labordispute_display_image

The NFL is in the middle of a labor dispute with the players union, so it’s unclear whether or not there will be football at all. However, the only thing both sides seem to agree on is a rookie wage scale. This means the amount you’ll make is predetermined based on where you are drafted. Terrelle Pryor has a much better chance of being drafted higher next season which means he’ll have a better chance to make more money. At the end of the day that’s all that really matters.
