Carson Palmer and Chad Ochocinco: A Heartfelt Letter from QB To WR
Chad,
What has happened to us? ย I feel like I donโt know you anymore. ย I know we have had our differences over the years, but who doesnโt?
When I first moved to Cincinnati, you and T.J. caught my eye. ย Despite having almost nothing in common, I was drawn to you. ย People say opposites attract, right?
I told T.J. we could be friends. ย At first, he didnโt mind that you were my No. 1 guy. ย It worked pretty well for a couple of years. ย However, T.J.โs feelings grew stronger, and he wanted more. ย He wanted something that I couldnโt give him.
I dedicated myself to you, Chad.
We have had our ups and downs. ย When I hurt my elbow in 2008, the real pain came from watching you play with someone else.
Last year, a number of younger guys joined us. ย I will admit to temptation but swear to my loyalty. ย Chad, I couldnโt jeopardize our connection with someone fresh out of college.
This year, something changed.
You brought a friend into the picture. ย Terrell is established, independent and mature. ย I was immediately drawn to him. ย For the first time in my life, I have found myself torn between two guys.
It almost seems as if fate is trying to drive a wedge between us. ย People are trying to double-team you out of the picture while Terrell and I are becoming closer.
When you lost it on Monday night, I didnโt know what to do. ย Andrew got you out of the huddle simply to protect me. ย Donโt read too much into it. ย I understand your frustration.
When I throw to Terrell, I am often pretending it is you. ย That isnโt fair to any of us. ย We have to figure this out.
Regards,
Carson
