European Grand Prix 2008: A Waste of Time.
Well, another racing circuit developed by Herman Tilke, and another processional race.
Okay, we have all heard since the race that Lewis Hamilton had the flu; that's just a Ron Dennis excuse for Lewis being second best.
As soon as they turned up for Friday practice, we knew it was going to be a Ferrari race.
What action did we have?
Adrian Sutil put it in the wall; that about sums it up.
Oh, and the FIA may have given Massa a penalty after the race. What was the point of that?
That was the FIA trying to liven things up.
There was no danger of a pitlane accident and we have all seen worse this season.
That is my rant over, now onto the race.
Not particularly eventful at the green light, more a formation start. A couple of corners in we had a spin, and then Kazuki Nakagima became Spain's latest bull after taking Fernando Alonso out.
From herein onwards it was pretty much a sprint to the first round of pit stops, then reverted back to the status quo.
We were then treated to the second round of pit stops, which proved that the cars should be fueled from green light to checkered flag, when Kimi Raikkonen tried to leave the pits early, but to no avail (engine failure) which left us with a sprint to the flag.
Felipe Massa won though, still leaving us an open championship, but during the Belgian Grand Prix (7th September 2008) Ferrari will have to choose their championship contender, as we all know Vodafone Mclaren Mercedes chose Hamilton in Melbourne.
Added to this, Spa-Francorchamps is a drivers circuit, with overtaking oppertunities (see Hakkinen-Schumacher 2000).
Lets all hope for an actual race at an actual circuit.
