UFC 87: Who was Slipprier?
After winning his UFC87 fight with Roger Huerta, Kenny Florian is now questioning if Roger was "greased up" for their match.
Getting into the specifics of the matter, Florian mentioned that at the time of the fight he wondered about Huerta being so slippery, and then specified that he didn't mean that in a technical sense or that Huerta was simply being evasive.
Kenny of course is a very technical fighter himself, with a multitude of holds and submissions when on the ground grappling with an opponent. From his experience he states he knows there was an added element present in his fight with Huerta.

After suggesting that Huerta had greased, Florian then wondered if the Albolene he inferred Huerta had used to cut weight had not been sufficiently removed from the after the weighins the day before the fight.
Naturally, I had to look up "Albolene" to discover why it would be used to cut weight.
Apparently Albolene, makeup remover, is used to pull moisture from the body to help a fighter lose water weight before weighing in. How the process works, I have no idea.
This is a trick known to fighters that the average person would not be aware of, especially me, as I do not wear makeup and seldom have. I do know that I have used cold cream in removing Halloween makeup from my grandchildren's faces, and it is very slippery.
Kenny further elaborated that he "knows what perspiration feels like in a fight," but sweat would not have accounted for how easily Huerta was able to slip out of his holds and submissions during the fight, which went to a decision.
Regardless of the slippery factor though, Florian was the unanimous winner, so Huerta gained little from this extra added element to the fight.
My question to Kenny would be if he also used Albolene to cut weight the day before, and if it might be "his" slipperiness that was to blame.
Boy, and I thought wrestling in Jello sounded tough!
