Has Gail Kim started what wrestling fans have been waiting years for?
Well, with the shocking news this week that Gail Kim has officially left TNA to sign with WWE; that leads me to start speculating on who TNA's next big coup is going to be. Are we on to a pattern here? With the way things have been going inside the wrestling industry lately, it would lead to believe that we could be in store for some more shake ups. It's almost been tit-for-tat lately in what seems a covert 'wrestling war' between the two companies.
You see at first, it was TNA that was signing the big stars from WWE like Christian Cage, Kurt Angle, Rhino, Kip James, Gail Kim and the Dudley Boys respectively. You can mention guys like Sheik Bashir(Daivari) and Matt Morgan as well, but they were prior to their TNA pushes considered to be projects at best. However, I think Morgan has a HUGE upside in TNA while Bashir can cut solid promos.

Offseason Moves for Every Team š
Over the past two years or so, the trend has shifted where some of TNA's marquee guys have been testing the WWE waters. The enigmatic Jeff Hardy comes to mind, as he was once a TNA headliner that is currently main eventing in WWE(if he can stay out of trouble). Hardy though could probably be considered more WWE since he was with them prior to TNA. Monty Brown several months later also decided to give WWE a try, yet fizzled out after a few months and is currently out of wrestling. Chris "Wildcat" Harris looked as though he cracked through recently. I saw two of his matches on WWE-ECW the past month or so, only to be surprised at his release several weeks ago?Ā He looked good to me, I wonder what was behind that? Ā Now, it looks as though the only true TNAĀ original Ron Killings appears to be ready to shatter that glass ceiling.
You see where I'm getting at. The past few years have seen wrestlers from both organizations successfully and unsuccessfully try to test the waters with their rivals. However, are we starting to finally see a seismic change on the wrestling horizon? Could a potential bidding war between TNA and WWE emerge with the recent releases and defections of wrestlers? Will more jump ship and head elsewhere?
History may tell us no, but the present may well in deed say yes. WWE has released many wrestlers the last few weeks with more supposedly on its way. Gail Kim, who was thought to be untouchable in TNA, is now back with the company that first brought her into major professional wrestling. It goes to show that anything can happen in wrestling, and I think this is a trend that will continue for at least the foreseeable future.
As of now, it appears that Mick Foley's days are finally numbered in WWE. It has been rumored that TNA is a likely destination. That would be great if Foley could wrestle part-time and help out the TNA roster. Ken Kennedy's name has also been out there as a possibility to be released. Both would be tremendous additions to TNA, and likely the ones they need to boost on par with WWE. It's speculation, but we'll see how things pan out.
All in all, I think wrestlers departing one company and heading to another is a shot in the butt this industry needs. It's been stale for a while, and with the way Vince McMahon has presented WWE lately we were in dire need for change. Not saying all of WWE was bad, but McMahon sometimes has a dubiousĀ way of making his product redundant. TNA gave us hope that maybe a rival wrestling company could maybe catch and challenge WWE. For the sake of watching wrestling, hopefully there are more surprises like the one Gail Kim gave us coming in the future.
