Musings Of an Unemployed Wannabe Sports Journalist

I guess you can call this a preview.

From time to time I'll be doing these types of articles in which I comment, sometimes honestly, others times sarcastically on the world of sports and sports media.

Where the preview part comes in is that this piece will be similar in format to my "Tuesday Morning Running Back" column which will start on Tuesday September 9th and run right up until the Super Bowl

Now then, let's get busy.

• Honestly, I don't know why the women's volleyball finals got such high ratings. I think it was sex appeal.
• 2 weeks to opening day and the 49er's still don't have any idea who their starting QB is going to be. Word is they're going to bring in Steve DeBerg, Bill Musgrave and Steve Bono for auditions before they decide
• I've seen so much of Michael Phelps's mother and sisters over the last two weeks, that I'm beginning to think that they are part of my family.
• If there's a fountain of youth, Bob Costas has found it, he's 56 going on twelve.
• And if there's a fountain of senility, Jon Miller has found that. He's 57 going on 89.
• So the US won the decathlon, that's no big deal. I once won a decathlon that consisted of hot dog eating, sports trivia, and beer drinking all in one day.
  
• Yeah I know it wasn't 10 events but it's a personal victory nonetheless.
• Watching Sportscenter today, I couldn't believe what i saw, Manny Ramirez beating out an infield grounder. That's a bigger miracle than Buster Douglas beating Mike Tyson.
• Usain Bolt obliterated his competition, I would love to see him take on Carl Lewis and Michael Johnson in their prime.
• Let me put Dara Torres in perspective for myself. I was days old when she competed in her first Olympics back in 1984. Now here I am at 24, watching her at 41, besting people half her age. Did she age or did I?
• Sad to see the Mike and the Mad Dog show come to an end after 19 years. Although I must admit the prospect of Chris Russo coming to Sirius/XM uncensored makes me giddy.
• The Celtics signed Darius Miles. What, Joe Forte wasn't available?
• For what I've seen and read, I concur with the experts. Georgia will win the national championship.
• Bold prediction, Percy Harving wins the Heisman
  
• I will always love Brett Favre no matter what, although he's playing for my team's chief rival.
• I also do not want see Favre's Jets tenure turn into Namath with the Rams or OJ with the Niners if you know what I mean.
• Now if you'll excuse me, I have to train for another lazy man's decathlon.
