2008-09 Season Ready to Begin.

Dear Football Fans

With the upcoming football season ready to rise into full affect there are many questions needing answers to surrounding the national football league.  My favorite topic to start each year is seeing what faces end up in new places finally after free-agency, trades, NFL draft, etc...

Without a doubt the number one story this off season was Brett Favre being traded from the Packer's to the New York Jets.  Who would of thought after he hung up his jersey in Wisconsin that he would return at all, especially as a JET. He has New York fans excited about bringing his magic to the table, but we shall wait and see if he can deliver.  All i have to say about this subject is if he doesn't make them an instant contender right away i wouldn't be surprised to see him hang up the cleats after only one season.

Another grey area for me this year is the confusion on why there are so many legitimate ball player's unsigned with any team.  The two most noticeable player's on my head are quarterback Daunte Culpepper and running back Shaun Alexander.  Two player's that were on top of the football world a few years ago suddenly dropped off of the face of the planet. How can a team like the Bengal's pass on a solid solution going with alexander while there starter Rudi Johnson remains inactive.  How do teams such as the Texans, Bills, Cardinals, and 49ers pass on Daunte Culpepper and settle for a sub par at best, 2nd rated QB?

Player Conduct has been the recent priority for all NFL player's.  It appears as though this may be the 2nd chance seasons for player's such as Adam Jones, formally known as Pacman Jones, Chris Henry, and it even appears as though former Heisman trophy winner Ricky Williams is getting this shot at redemption. Not sure how much of an impact they will have on there teams besides the obvious media attention, but definitely something to keep an eye on.

The regular season begins Thursday, September 4th at 7:00pm EST with the Washington Redskins visiting there division rival New York Giants.  The world will be able to see if the reigning champs come to defend there lombardi trophy Week 1 in the meadowlands.

Until Next Time, Signing Off...
