The NBA's All Underrated Team

Steven ResnickAug 17, 2008

Point Guard: Monta Ellis. Not many players as tall as him 6'3 would be able to shoot over 50 percent from the field. He now takes over as point guard for the Warriors, which will be fine. His only weakness is his 3 point shooting which he is more then likely working on. I disagree with people who think he doesn't have the ability to lead the Warriors, for the most part during the second half of the season it was Ellis who became the distributor for the Warriors.

Shooting Guard: Kevin Martin is a solid player he does everything well and silently he puts up over 20 points per game. The reason why he doesn't get much press is that he plays in Sacramento and they haven't been a solid team like they used to be.

Small Forward: Stephen Jackson. Now many people see him as a wild character getting into trouble, but his game has matured. Sure he still gets T's but he has reigned in his anger and become the Warriors most valuable player. With him out of the lineup the Warriors went 1-6 to start the season. He averaged the most points for his career last year just over 20 points per game. He has a ring and Tim Duncan called him the best teammate he's ever had.

Power Forward: Lamarcus Aldridge has a solid offensive game that no one really talks about unless you're in Portland. Aldridge is a mobile big man has a solid mid range game, can get you tough rebounds both offensively and defensively. Look for him to put up huge numbers for the Blazers.

Center: Andris Biedrins. He's still learning the game and every year he has improved. He shoots a high percentage from the floor but that's because most his points either come off layups or easy put backs. He's solid defensively and has worked on his free throw shooting. Look at him to expand his game with the departure of Baron Davis giving him a little bit more looks and getting the ball in the post.

Backups:

Point Guard: Steve Blake it was a toss up between Calderon and Blake. It went to Steve Blake because he led the Blazers to a .500 record in the tough western conference. What people don't realize is that he had one of the highest assists to turnover ratios. That's going to be huge for the Blazers who are a young team and need to keep possesion of the ball so they don't give up a lot of points. Blake has been around awhile, but he definitely is underrated as a point guard.

Shooting Guard: Brandon Roy has been solid for the Blazers, but still doesn't get the recognition he deserves. The reason why he doesn't get the recognition is that as a shooting guard he looks to pass first rather then score. When he does decide to score he's good at drawing fouls and getting to the rim. Eventually you'll see him as a 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists kind of player.

Small Forward: Travis Outlaw he's a tremendous athlete has improved his shooting since coming into the league. He made some clutch shots last year for the Blazers. What he needs to work on is endurance so he can play as a starter instead of off the bench.

Power Forward: Al Jefferson doesn't get the attention he deserves since he got put on a horrible Minnesota team, but even before that he did have solid numbers for the Celtics. This year he was a 20 and 10 guy. Look for him to have bigger numbers with the emergence of Kevin Love.

Center: Samuel Dalembert finally showed that he could average a double double.Solid defender and at 27 still is young and can get up and down the floor. Good free throw percentage but needs to work on his low post game so he can start averaging around 15 and 10 which he is definitely capable of.
