You gotta see the obvious; these are not anything like any Lions team during the Millen years.  We have played 4 of the top dozen teams in the NFL and could have won all 4 of those games and should arguably have won games one and two.  Already sportscasters, especially in Detroit, have begun pointing-out all sorts of Lion faults; the terrible defense, the lousy defensive backs, etc. yet these guys have shown enormous heart while often out-playing the opposition.  Sportscasters on TV are not so myopic, Fantasy Football people certainly have noticed the many Lion players now ranking much higher than they did just four weeks ago; or 4 losses ago.  Yep, after 4 losses the NFL has spotted a much improved, more exciting Detroit Lions team with the arrow of success beginning to point north.

The Lions have been outscored by 24 points in four games.  They are that close, and because of that, the mood in the locker room is vastly more upbeat than what you would expect from a typical 0-4 team.  “We’re right there,” said receiver Nate Burleson, who believes he will be back in the lineup against the Rams on Sunday, though the coaching staff has not endorsed that yet.  “We are playing as hard as we can and just not figuring out a way to finish.  But this is a different team with a different level of confidence and there are different expectations going into games.”

The Lions have scored 82 points good enough for 12th best in the entire NFL and given-up 106 points where they reside near the bottom.  One of the most consistent big-time offenses in the NFL has been the Green Bay Packers and the mobile wall of blockers there to protect Mr. Rodgers from harm.  The Lions dominated the Packers through almost the entire 2nd half.  The terrible group behind the linebackers intercepted the ball in highly important moments of the game .. twice.  The addition of Alphonso Smith coincides with the cornerback resurgence during the past two games where Smith intercepted a ball in both games.  When management figures out how terrible Wade is in pass coverage and dump his contract to another team; then they will return Randy Phillips to the roster and into more games will they discover how competent the scouting staff is and why Alphonso Smith, Randy Phillips, Chris Houston, Louis Delmas and Amari Spievey will become cohesive during the season and it is more likely they will be even better next year since all of them are very young.
