The Minnesota Vikings are reportedly considering signing San Diego Chargers' wide receiver, Vincent Jackson early this week.

The Vikings have started their season 0-2, and the lack of receiving consistency could be part of the problem. Vincent Jackson could be just the answer to the Vikings' offensive woes, but the clock is ticking.

Minnesota could make great use of a competent, athletic receiver, and Jackson would be the perfect addition to the team.

Here are 10 reasons that the Vikings will trade for Jackson before the Wednesday deadline.

10. Sidney Rice

Sidney Rice is out for at least eight weeks of the regular season, and somebody needs to take his place.

If the Vikings sign Vincent Jackson, they will have him as early as their October 17th game against the Dallas Cowboys.

9. Percy Harvin

Percy Harvin has also had his share of liabilities including intense migraine headaches and now hip troubles.

Harvin is set to get an MRI this week to evaluate his bruised hip, and he is going to need some help from other receivers.

8. Bernard Berrian

Berrian is healthy, but that's where the good news ends. Brett Favre has yet to establish trust in Berrian, and we can't really blame him.

Berrian missed a few catches, and even though Favre's passing was far from perfect, a more athletic receiver like Vincent Jackson could have made the plays work.

7. Adrian Peterson Can't Win Games By Himself

Peterson rushed for 145 yards and a touchdown against the Dolphins, and while this is good news for fantasy football owners, this is very bad news for the Vikings' offense.

By the fourth quarter, the Dolphins were able to contain Peterson, and the Vikings were left with very few alternatives.

6. Neither Can Brett Favre

Blame it on his age.

Blame it on lack of practice.

But don't forget to place some blame on his receivers.

Brett Favre hasn't looked like himself this season, but let's keep in mind that he lacks some key pieces in his supporting cast this year.

5. They Need Another Pro-Bowler

Talent wins football games. Period.

And the Vikings are definitely lacking in this department.

Vincent Jackson put up some good numbers last season with the Chargers, and he will bring some talent back to the Minnesota Vikings.

4. Reduced Suspension

Vincent Jackson is suspended for six games by the league due to substance abuse violations, but if he is traded to another team, the suspension will be reduced to four games.

Even though the Vikings will have to do without him for a couple games, he will be ready to play faster than Sidney Rice.

3. Draft Picks Are Nice...

But winning now would be better.

The Vikings will likely have to sacrifice at least one quality draft pick in a trade for Jackson, but the Vikings need to win this season.

Vincent Jackson could provide the Band-Aid the Vikings need until Rice and Harvin are back to fighting shape.

2. If The Vikings Don't Pick Him Up...

Somebody else will!

The Vikings need to act fast to sign Jackson before Wednesday at 4:00 PM not only to reduce his suspension but also to insure that no other team picks him up.

Teams around the league (including the Washington Redskins) could also make great use of Vincent Jackson for the season, so Minnesota would be smart to sign him as soon as possible.

1. They Need to Do Something!

Because whatever the Vikings are doing right doesn't seem to be working.

Jackson might not be the long-term answer for Minnesota, but he can pick up the slack while the rest of the team figures it out.
