2010 NFL Season: Tom Brady To Surpass Wife Gisele Bundchen in Earnings
Tom Brady, the quarterback of the New England Patriots and now the highest-paid player in the National Football League, has accomplished another feat.
This year he will bring more money than his wife Gisele Bundchen. It is a significant accomplishment, considering Bundchen is the world's richest supermodel. Until this season this would never have been possible.
Bundchen has earned a reported $25 million over the past year. Her husband Tom, who recently signed a new contract extension with the Patriots, will make approximately $26.5 million, largely aided by a $16 million signing bonus.
Brady has not come close to this large number ever before in his playing career despite winning three Super Bowl rings and winning the MVP award in the Super Bowl twice.
Bundchen and Brady married in 2009 and have one son together. Brady has become the face of the franchise after taking over for Drew Bledsoe in 2001. He was a sixth-round draft pick out of Michigan, and no draft analyst saw him as a top-rated quarterback in the 2000 NFL draft.
There were 198 players selected before Brady in the that draft, but his success and dominance as quarterback of the New England Patriots lives strong today.
Just last week Brady was uninjured in a scary car accident after leaving his Boston home a little after six in the morning. This event scared Brady, but he was on the field and led the Pats to a 38-17 win over the Bengals just three days later.
Patriots owner Robert Kraft followed through and signed his franchise quarterback. Now Brady is paid like one of the elite players in the game.
