The Viper Strikes Back: 5 Reasons Why Randy Orton Will Win at Night of Champions
Why hello everyone on B/R. Spike here with a new article as this time, I take on the task of proving to you all why Randy Orton should win the WWE Championship at the upcoming pay-per-view, "Night of Champions."
In case you all have been living under a rock for the past few weeks, the WWE will be having the annual Night of Champions PPV, where all the titles will be on the line. The main event of the show (Or at least i think it is the main event) is the Six Pack Challenge for the WWE Championship as Sheamus defends his title against Randy Orton, Edge, John Cena, Wade Barrett, and a 6th man to be announced.
Everyone's already getting their picks on who'll win the match. Some say Sheamus. Some say Cena. But for me, I say it's time for "The Viper" Randy Orton to finally win the WWE Championship and take his place back on top the WWE charts as a dominate champion.
But why should he win? Good question.
And here's your answers!
#1: Replacing Cena As The Top Babyface
John Cena has been the top face of the WWE for the past 4 or more years.
Randy Orton has quickly become one of the top babyfaces in the company.
It's time for Cena to 'pass the torch' sort of speak, and give Orton the ball as the top face of the company. We all know that Cena as a face isn't the best position we would like him to be in, but replacing him with Orton would be, in my opinion, a really good move by WWE.
The crowd reactions to his music, his matches, even his promos, get some of the biggest pops of the night anywhere he goes. Orton has developed an appeal to not just the PG fanbase, but also to the older folks like the IWC...something few have achieved.
He has all the tools to become one hell of a champion. Heel or face, he'll be pretty damn entertaining (Also I'm always a fan of a heel turn!).
#2: Hell In A Cell
Next on the list is the Hell in a Cell ppv.
If you haven't heard, wrestling news outlets reported that one of the main events of the October pay-per-view "Hell in a Cell" was released.
The match was Randy Orton vs Sheamus for the WWE title.
My first though of this was, "Eh...could be good, but not spectacular."
But after thinking about it, I was actually kinda happy this match could happen. For starters, Sheamus has never been in a HIAC match (And could actually do well in), and also, we now actually kinda know the outcome of the main event of Night of Champions.
Of course, 'subject is due to change' before and after Night of Champions, but if I was a betting man, I would put my money on Orton.
#3: Overdue For A Title
If you think about it, Randy Orton has not won 1 single title in 2010. Not one!
There's only 3 guys who have won the title this year: John Cena, Batista, and Sheamus.
I think it's time to add a 4th name to that list: Randy Orton.
The guy, in my opinion, is overdue for a title and Night of Champions is probably the right place to have him finally win the belt.
People do keep complaining that the same guys get the title like Triple H or Cena or even Orton. But unlike Cena and Triple H, Orton really has no heat from us in the IWC. I think most of us really like his look/gimmick so far. Look, when a guy like Randy Orton gets a great push like this, it's only sooner or later he'll have to get the title run...
#4: Majorly Over With The Fans = Main Event Push/Title Run
When a guy like Randy Orton is WAY over with the fans, it's a way to send a message to the creative backstage that says that this is the guy we want. This is the guy we would love to see win the title. This is our guy.
One example in my opinion is the video here. When Orton comes out (Almost 4 minutes in), the roof on that place starts to shake. Later on, (Now about 9 minutes in) when Orton and Sheamus stare down, you can clearly see the camera shaking. Really, shaking! Were the fans just shaking the bottom of the camera because they were excited or was everybody really just going apes**t crazy over this?
Whatever the explanation is, it says two things to me: 1. Sheamus is over as a heel and the crowd is eating it up...and 2. Orton is CLEARLY over as a face and the fans just cannot get enough of him.
You don't see that type of fan reaction anymore. When the fans are in unison, cheering this guy, it reminds you of the days of Stone Cold, Triple H (In his prime), Rock, and so on. It truly is something to marvel at because who knew Orton as a babyface would actually WORK this time!?
#5: Credible Champion
Unlike Batista, Cena, or Sheamus, Orton has the look to be a credible champion after Night of Champions. With his Viper gimmick, he'll probably be booked to be a dominate champions, have a few more title matches with Sheamus, and go into 2011 as champion (Or at least that's how I'd book it).
Last year, Orton dominated the WWE title scene. He and John Cena had one hell of a rivalry and actually had some pretty good matches (Their Iron Man match at last year's Bragging Rights ppv is probably the best match they've had together). 2010 & 2011 could probably be no different for The Viper.
The guy can carry RAW on his shoulders for a long time. WWE needs to give this guy the ball and let him run with it. With the WWE Championship around his waist, Randy Orton, whether face or heel, will be a force to be reckoned with in the upcoming months...
In The End...
