The League Title is this way fellas!!!
David Villa started off his FC Barcelona career with a beautiful headed goal two weeks ago when the Catalan club beat Racing Santander 3-0 at El Sardinero stadium on August 29. Opening his account was the perfect start for Villa at his new club. He is clearly more comfortable with his new team than most players would be in his situation. Usually it takes time for players to get used to each others playing styles and tendencies but fortunately for Barca fans, Villa spent the summer in South Africa playing with Gerard Pique, Carlos Puyol, Victor Valdes, Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta, Sergio Busquets, and Pedro at the World Cup.
Not only does Villa know his teammates from playing with most of them on the Spanish National team but he has played against them in La Liga for nearly a decade. Take a player like Villa who has been a top striker in one of the top two leagues in the world and partner him with one of the most successful midfield combinations ever in Iniesta and Xavi and what do you have? I think you have a Barcelona team capable of breaking their own La Liga record of 99 points that they set just last year.
It's hard to criticize Zlatan Ibrahimovic for his contributions to FC Barcelona last year but Villa is a much better fit for the fluid passing game that Barcelona is known for. I think Samuel Eto'o and Ronaldinho are phenomenal players but there was a selfishness to their play that prevented the team from achieving its full potential, even though the team was very successful during their time at the club by any standard. Pep Guardiola clearly saw that those two stars were surplus to requirements and made the necessary changes that have pole vaulted Barca to dominance in the past two years, save for the Champions League semifinal loss to Inter Milan and their special manager.
This match against Hercules on Saturday is a chance for the players to enjoy what is certain to be a fantastic crowd and get three points as well. This year Barcelona will win La Liga again. They will be more exciting than ever on the pitch and David Villa will win the Golden Boot award in La Liga. Pep Guardiola will show that he is in fact the most "special" manager in Spain.
