A Thank You To Bleacher Report And The Commuinity That Makes It Work

Keith GriffinAug 9, 2008

I guess this article was created in my mind when I recently had the pleasure of reading Salaar Shamsi's great article "B/R World Football Community Best Writer (July-August)". I thought to myself, what a great idea. To take the time to say to the Bleacher Report Community, well done your the best writer or congratulations, your articles have been awarded for being the most creative.

A small reward maybe, it ain't money or a trophy. But it's a wonderful thing to get a pat on the back from people, who like you, put hours into this community. It's nice to be recognised. And it got me thinking about the impact that Bleacher Report and the people who share their opinions within it had on me, and how it has had further implications on my life than many would believe.

I'm far from an established writer on this site. But I enjoy logging in everyday and reading as many articles as possible, comment here and there and sporadically write Manchester United based articles.

But what Bleacher Report did reveal, which was unknown to me, was that I did actually have a strong passion for writing. I love it. So I decided to enroll in college and take up journalism. Come September I'm back to the educational system and I hope that now I have realised my dream, that I can achieve it.

And since the day I enrolled I know that it was Bleacher Report that made that decision for me. If I had never entered this site in the first place, then I think college would never had entered my mind. So I owe it that and I thank Bleacher Report for having me.

But what I owe to Bleacher Report more than anything, is the great people within it. I enjoy that more than anything. There really are some truly brilliant people within this site.

Salaar Shamsi is a writing machine. I'm starting to wonder if his laptop is ever turned off. From his speedy updates, to his creative brilliance and his worldwide knowledge of the game, his name is the first I click on every morning. So thanks Salaar.

Jeff Harbert is one of the reasons I settled so quickly into writing on Bleacher Report. He is always welcoming. We seem to share the exact same ideas and opinions on Manchester United, he has always been helpful and rarely forgets to check out your articles. A genius in the making, I may not have seen his articles in his first few months, but his impact is clear to see. So thanks Jeff.

S B. This guy will keep you updated on the whole footballing situation in South America and his knowledgeable opinions are always welcome. His articles are some of the best around, plus the guy can make you cry with laughter sometimes. His rants on Cristiano Ronaldo are eagerly awaited and his general humor and good nature add spice to B/R. So thanks S.

Shyam Parthasarathi. The creative contingent of B/R, his mind seems to have the advantage over many of us in this community. His "Rival's View" series blew us all away and he is always a joy to chat to and discuss various footballing issues with. Plus he knows how to produce an article or two, two months on the site and he has a ranking of senior writer. Gotta be quick if your gonna keep up with this guy.

Of course there are many many more people here who I have had the pleasure of interacting with, however if I was to list them then it would take more than one article I believe!

I guess in conclusion I just want to thank Bleacher Report and the people within it for the unknown impact that they have had on my life. From the inspiration, to the laughter to the fair and neutral conversation on the beautiful game. It has been a joyous three months.

So thank you to all from me. Lets continue to grow and prosper.
