Texas vs. FAU: Upset in the Making?
The Texas Longhorns take on the FAU Owls August 30th.
Of course most people think the Texas Longhorns will blow out the Owls, which might be true, but it might not be. Here are three reasons which show FAU has a chance and three chances showing that they will be blown out.
Positive
- Rusty Smith
He is a 6'5 212 lb. QB machine who threw for 3,688 yards last year with 32 TD and 9 INT. If you do not think those are killer stats then I don't know what's wrong with you. He has good receivers which can tear the Texas secondary apart.
- Howard Schnellenberger
He is a very experienced coach who knows what he is doing. He has led this team from being no one to someone. He has won four National Championships so he is not worried about pressure and he even has some NFL experience.
- Turnovers
Their defense is a force to be reckoned with. Last season, their turnover margin was at 1.38 which was the sixth best in the NCAA. They also have returning starting CB Tavious Polo who had seven interceptions last year.
Negative
- Returning Starters
They only have eight returning starters which will show the lack of experience against the teams they have to face this year.
- Lack of experience
FAU is not used to playing teams like Texas and they defiantly are not used to beating them since they play in the Sun Belt Conference. We will see if they show up to this game.
- RB situation
The rushing offense was not good at ALL. Their RB Charles Pierre only had 782 yards last season which isn't the best. Their rushing offense only averaged 126 yards last year which was the 93rd worst in the NCAA and sixth worst in the Sun Belt.
Well those are my ideas of the upcoming Texas vs. FAU game so give me your opinion.
