Lou Marson's Phuture as a Phillie

Sam J.Aug 6, 2008

Lou Marson is playing at a Major League status. He was a 4th round pick in the 2004 draft. Marson has progressed little by little. However his break-out season came in 2007 when he hit .288 for the Phillies high level A team. Marson this year is putting up some pretty good numbers, posting a .319 batting average, and a .434 on base percentage. Marson looks like one of the bright stars in the Phillies farm system. He and Reading Phils teammate Jason Donald have been invited to play for team USA in the Olympics.

My Prediction: The Phillies can not hold Marson back any longer. He is obviously the best hitting prospect they have. I think that the Phillies are going to either trade him for a solid starter to add to their decent (I am using this word very loosely) pitching rotation. Trading Josh Outman was a huge mistake losing a prized pitching prospect for a pitcher who has had spurts of success but always lacking consistency. The other option might be that they let go of or trade Carlos Ruiz or Chris Coste. Ruiz is the younger of the two, but he is coming off a bad season, so in my eyes the chances of him getting traded are greater. Also, the Phillies, like most teams, always need bats, Chris Coste will defiantly provide this team.
