Tiger Woods: 10 Reasons His NYC Bachelor Pad Will Lead to More Wins

Elliott PohnlSep 1, 2010

Tiger Woods has purchased a pad in Manhattan to officially begin fulfilling his obligations as an eligible bachelor.

With the weight of his impending divorce finally off his shoulders, Tiger has reportedly decided to leave the comfy confines of Windermere, Florida and take his talents to the Big Apple.

Tiger's move comes as a bit of a surprise, but it could certainly have a positive effect on his golf game.

Here's a look at 10 reasons Tiger's bachelor pad could translate to happiness in his personal life and success on the links.

No. 10: Turn over a New Leaf

Tiger's move to the big city enables him to get far away from the place where it all began to unravel last November.

He is now free to write the next chapter in his life without being haunted by the past, and he can begin living life as a New Yorker.

It might be the fresh start he needs to help him concentrate on his golf game.

No. 9: Urban Life over the Suburban Life

2 of 10

Sure, it's no longer possible for Tiger to hop in his Escalade and drive five minutes to a golf course but just think of all the other opportunities the urban mecca will provide.

Instead of brooding over what happened, Tiger will have so many possibilities for entertainment to keep his mind off the transgressions that destroyed his family and his image.

Let's face it, there's only so much to do in the suburbs. The city is where it's at.

No. 8: Discover New Hobbies

Tiger needs to get his mind right before he can get completely fix his golf game. Maybe he needs a new hobby.

There are 14 million things to do in New York. Maybe he could become an avid art collector and browse galleries in Chelsea. He could take up rollerblading on the trails in Central Park. Sarah Jessica Parker could take him shopping on Madison Avenue.

And of course, there is always the possibility to attend sporting events in New York City. A fixture at Orlando Magic games in recent years, Woods could adopt the Knicks as his new favorite team, or even decide to follow the Nets as they prepare to move to Brooklyn.

No. 7: Rediscover Old Hobbies

4 of 10

Tiger's love for fast women has come to define his legacy. What better place to cultivate his passion than in New York City?

Now that he is officially single, he won't have to hide his transgressions from the world. He can go to clubs and look for the pick of the litter.

It might be a good idea to wait until things cool down a bit, but the possibilities for female companionship in the Big Apple are basically endless.

He certainly won't have to go to a Denny's to find love.

No. 6: The Chance to Make New Friends

Would you rather hang out with Mark O'Meara or Robert DeNiro?

Tiger has done permanent damage to his image in Windermere. He will always be known as the crazy neighbor who crashed into a tree leaving his driveway.

It might be time to make some new friends who won't care about his past.

The celebrity faction of New York will be willing to overlook Tiger's transgressions and value his stimulating company.

No. 5: Stay Away from Elin, But Not Too Far Away from His Kids

6 of 10

In her interview with People, Elin Nordegren said she plans to remain in Orlando and raise her two children.

How is Tiger supposed to shake the demons of his past or start his new life with Elin so close by?

The move to Manhattan will create a buffer of sorts, but also enable him to hop on a private jet and see his children when he gets a chance.

No. 4: All Eyes Won't Be on Him

New York is too big and too busy for an athlete with Tiger's celebrity to stand out. He can throw on some shades, a hat, and maybe a fake beard and come and go as he pleases without being gawked at by on-lookers.

There are simply too many celebrities for New Yorker's to stop and notice Tiger walking to Starbucks in the morning.

Tiger doesn't want to be in the spotlight alone. He certainly went to the right place.

No. 3: Easier to Dodge the Press

The New York public might not be overly concerned about Tiger Woods, but the media will be.

The words race in the Big Apple will cause various news outlets to monitor Tiger's every move, station photographers outside his pad, and try to uncover juicy new tidbits about his personal life.

If Tiger wants to dodge questions or being photographed, he can take off running towards the subway or simply try to blend in among the crowd.

No. 2: Closer to Rachel Uchitel

9 of 10

Does Rachel really want Tiger back? How does Tiger feel about his former fling?

Tiger's move to Manhattan gives him easier access to the New York socialite who has been rumored by less than credible sources to have an interest in the eligible bachelor.

If Tiger wants it, he can probably have it. History has shown that Tiger needs a woman in his life to succeed on the course; maybe even more than one.

No. 1: Focus, Focus, Focus

Ultimately, Tiger needs to focus on fixing his life before fixing his golf game. The best way to end outside distractions is by turning the page and starting fresh in a new place.

There are plenty of resources around New York City for Tiger to work on his game. He can work on his putting stroke and refine his swing, then travel back to Florida for the winter.

If Tiger finds happiness in his new surroundings, he is likely to rediscover his magic on the course heading into 2011.
