PGA Championship 2010 Live Blog: Round Three Leaderboard and Scores

Garrett TuckerCorrespondent IAugust 14, 2010

Hello, golf fans!

This is Garrett Tucker and I will be with you to cover the rest of Saturday's PGA Championship at Whistling Straits. I apologize for the late start, but we're up and going and I hope you are all looking for a good day in golf!

We have a slew of Americans at the top of the leaderboard and it should be interesting to see how everything shapes out today and from here on out.

Here are a couple of important questions I will leave you all with:

Can Matt Kuchar stay atop the leaderboard going into Sunday?

Will a foreign player jump into the top of the leaderboard? It is mostly Americans at this point.

Can Tiger Woods get up at the top and show that he is still the golfer he once was?

Let's have a great day of golf everyone!

Make sure to watch today's coverage on TNT until 1 CST, then CBS will take over!

Everyone, I apologize, but I have to go early today. Make sure to check back in tomorrow for the Final Round and get ready for a great ending to the PGA Championship!

For scores and standings, checkout the leaderboard here!

5:13 CST: Nick Watney isn't as he started, but he still sits contently with a nice lead. He just needs to build on some pars here to end the day and take his lead into tomorrow.

5:05 CST: Bryce Molder is at nine-under for the tournament. Should be interesting to see how he and Wenchong Liang fair tomorrow.

5:01 CST: Tiger about hits a hole in one like Lehman did earlier. Looks like he'll add another birdie to his score sheet today.

4:58 CST: Nick Watney gets another birdie, and he is now back to 12-under.

4:48 CST: Ernie Els finishes his day at five-under for the tournament. He still has a shot for tomorrow. It's slim, but it's better than nothing.

4:39 CST: Jim Furyk moves to nine-under for the tournament with a birdie on 10.

Phil Mickelson finishes up his day on the ninth hole at one-under for the championship, ten strokes off the lead.

4:30 CST: Martin Kaymer converts another birdie and he is quietly moving up the leaderboard.

4:17 CST: Tiger Woods gets another birdie on 14. He now has two birdies and three bogeys on the day.

4:07 CST: Nick Watney takes his first bogey in his last 20 holes and goes to 11-under. He now leads by two strokes.

4:00 CST: Tiger has a nice approach on 13 to hopefully get another birdie.

Dustin Johnson is also looking to gain another stroke with a birdie.

3:54 CST: Bubba Watson hits his first birdie of the day on the eighth hole.

3:47 CST: Zach Johnson, Vijay Singh, and Jason Day are guys we haven't really heard from today, but they are very much in the hunt for the tournament.

3:44 CST: Nick Watney is running away with the lead, as he hits another birdie to go to 12-under.

3:39 CST: Rory Mcllroy is dropping off a little bit, but he is still in contention.

Martin Kaymer moves to eight-under.

3:30 CST: Tiger finally gets his birdie and now has something positive.

Nick Watney gains another stroke and is now at 11-under.

3:28 CST: Tiger has a chance to get that first birdie; then again, he has missed a lot of those make-able putts today.

3:13 CST: Simon Dyson has slowed down a little bit, but he is still at six-under for the day.

Mcllroy and Furyk both stay at eight-under, one shot off the lead.

Tiger Woods has yet to execute a birdie on the day, and he is three-over for the day. Not looking good.

Matt Kuchar loses a stroke and is now at seven-under.

Simultaneously, Watney hits a birdie on five, and he goes to ten-under for the tournament.

3:00 CST: Tom Lehman has a great shot to get a hole in one! He proves this isn't for just the youngsters!

2:55 CST: Tiger is back to even par for the tournament, nine shots back. He needs to gain two or three shots to even have a chance to catching the leaders.

Mickelson gets back to even par for today and is two-under for the tournament.

2:38 CST: Dustin Johnson converts birdie on five, and he is now two shots back of the lead.

Martin Kaymer with a nice approach on seven.

2:14 CST: Nick Watney takes the lead with a birdie on two.

2:05 CST: Bubba Watson gets the par on two with a two-putt shot.

Tiger with a nice deflection off Molinari's ball on six. He got lucky and it has really helped him.

J.B. Holmes is yet another player to convert for birdie on two.

Don't be surprised when Rory Mcllroy wins this. If it wasn't for a poor first day, he would hold the lead.

1:57 CST: Rory Mcllroy gets another birdie to gain yet another shot on the lead. He is one back at seven-under.

1:54 CST: Shaun Micheel just hit a great putt with a double break from waaaaaaay out! Great shot.

Nick Watney converts birdie on one to go to eight-under.

Dustin Johnson converts par on three.

Tiger Woods with a bogey on five. He is now two-over through five holes.

1:45 CST: Dustin Johnson completes two with a birdie. He is now two shots back of Matt Kuchar and the lead.

Rory Mcllroy also follows with a birdie on two.

Simon Khan just missed a hole in one, but looks like he'll have a nice birdie shot.

Great birdie for Phil Mickelson on 16. He really needs that at this point.

1:40 CST: Matt Kuchar, Nick Watney, and Jim Furyk are the final players to tee off. SO, here we go with all the golfers on the course. Things will get interesting now.

1:30 CST: The last nine golfers are getting ready to start now, as Bubba Watson, J.B. Holmes, and Ryan Palmer are on the tee.

1:24 CST: Rory Mcllroy finishes up his first hole, so he is now underway. Definitely watch out for him today, along with another young gun, Dustin Johnson.

Martin Kaymer converts for birdie on two and he is now at five-under as well. There's a handful of good player tied at -5 along with him, including Mcllroy, Johnson, and Vijay Singh.

1:14 CST: Zach Johnson is now done with the first hole, converting for par.

Dustin Johnson should be coming soon. He is a guy to watch today.

12:57 CST: Simon Dyson is starting out quick and has three straight birdies to go to five-under, along with another handful of players three strokes off the lead.

12:50 CST: Tiger Woods gets out of the rough with a great save and he is now back on the fairway.

12:44 CST: Francesco Molinari converts for birdie on the first hole to gain another stroke and go to four-under for the PGA Championship.

12:37 CST: Tiger and Molinari both have good approaches for birdie on one. Elkington follows with  a nice approach himself.

12:32 CST: Tiger has now begun Round 3. He comes in five shots off the lead and today could be his day to make a run at the leaders.

12:28 CST: Tiger Woods is making his way to the first tee. Anyone have predictions on how he will do today?

12:23 CST: Charles Howell III with a nice birdie to start gaining early.

Phil with a nice save on 11 to regroup from that prior shot.

12:18 CST: Well, Phil is having to sign his glove and give it to fans... Not a good sign at this point.

12:16 CST: Phil Mickelson is working his way on the back nine. Should be interesting to see how he holds up today.

12:02 CST: Anyone want to give a prediction on who will do well today and win the tournament? Let's talk it up!

Ernie Els starts off Round Three with a nice birdie putt on one.

11:52 CST: Looks like we are finally under way with the Third Round. Can anyone say, "About time???" Just joking, but we finally have us some good golf going on now.
