WWE: NXT Season Two, with Pros Hazing Rookies
Last night, WWE began season two of NXT, with eight new rookies and nine pros. The reason there is one more pro than there are rookies is because Kaval has been paired up with team Lay-Cool. Poor Kaval.
Season Two of NXT features a couple of superstars who have wrestling in their blood. I am talking about the sons of Mike IRS Rotunda and Mr. Perfect, Curt Hennig.
For some reason, WWE chose to acknowledge these superstars' ties to wrestling, but still opted to change their ring names. Rotunda is going by Husky Harris and Hennig is being called Michael Mcgillicutty.
The night was kicked off with an introduction of each rookie and pro. Matt Striker was about to lay out the card for the night when all the rookies began to fight over who was going to win the contest.
There were two tag team matches featuring pros teaming with their respective rookies. MVP teamed up with his rookie, Showtime Percy Watson, for a face off against the second generation team of Cody Rhodes and Husky Harris.
Neither of the rookies really shined in the match, but neither made glaring mistakes either, which is a good thing in your first outing in the WWE. MVP and Percy took home the win over Husky and Cody when Watson hit a float over DDT on Husky.
The second match saw John Morrison and Eli Cottonwood face off against Zack Ryder and Titus O'Neill. Titus is a big guy and will likely turn some heads in WWE since he fits the mold of what Mr. McMahon likes.
Morrison and Eli ended up getting the win after Morrison hit Starship Pain on O'Neill.
After the match, Matt Striker gathered up all the pros and rookies in the ring. He recapped the events of the previous night where the season one rookies destroyed Cena, Punk, and the whole ringside area and ring crew.
He then welcomed them to NXT with an attack by the pros. All the pros jumped on the rookies and beat them down to send a message that they will not be intimidated.
The night was far more entertaining than any of the first season's last six episodes. So, at least that was a plus. However, with the shortened season and Smackdown coming to Syfy soon, I have a feeling that this is the last NXT season.
So what were your guys impressions of the new class on NXT?
