Toon Ultras - Something Bad You Didn't know

As most you of you will now know, the Toon Ultras’ aim is to bring back the noise to St James’ Park.

However, outside and at the matches, the Toon Ultras almost look decent, but behind the scenes it is a whole different story.

The Ultras are raising money for more banners etc…something I will get onto. It has come to the attention of some former Ultras that corruption is happening behind the scenes and that the members higher up in the group only get a say.

One former member, whose name I cannot put forward, donated £10 to the Toon Ultra cause, he has no idea where that money has now gone, he was promised something out of it, but nothing has arrived. The Ultra forum was having a debate about songs which could be sung at Newcastle United matches. One idea was posted, which was a great idea, it was posted by a member who has just started, the comment was deleted, and then a few hours later was added back on by a member who runs the forum. At no point did it mention who actually created the chant.

Speaking of chants, what is up with the lack of originality? The songs, which were posted on nufc-blog, 3 out of the 4 were copied from other teams, but the name of the other team had been replaced by Newcastle. There was only one chant which had some originality. The songs had been copied from teams like Liverpool, Celtic and even as low as FC United. If you do not believe me you can always do your research on YouTube.

Now I am all for new chants and bringing back the noise, but when we all say our support is special, which it is because of numbers and loyalty after so many years with nothing, at what point does stealing songs from others make us ‘special’. Chants are made up every season by teams like Manchester United and Liverpool, which show originality and sound amazing when sung. Is it so hard for the so called ‘loyal supporters of the Toon army’ to come up with a tune and add words which show them being original?

It has also been brought to my attention that the Ultras have now elected a council, in which higher members get a say, and the people below aren’t taken into interest.

Some ultras, one who is a bigish lad with black hair, the other a skinny one with a massive gob and black hair, love to let it known to people that they go to matches. On one away trip, the bigish lad criticised a Toon fan who is now in the top 5 Newcastle United fans, for slating Martins, he called him a ‘Part Timer’ and questioned his loyalty. Now all the people with the loyal fan laughed at this Ultra, who would struggle to get a ticket for the likes of Liverpool away through the Loyalty system. They love the attention; they look down on others who criticise them, which is wrong. No Newcastle United fan is better than any other who goes to matches, we are all equal, all there for the same reason, but to criticise someone who had been going for 30 years non stop is just laughable.

The Toon Ultras are an organisation with mostly kids, who get tickets for friendlies and cup games, yet bag all the attention from the media. There are only a few members who go to most Newcastle matches.

At no point should a group take all the applause, they were given the applause for the noise on level 7, anyone on this board would know if they had been in level 7 for many years the atmosphere was always there and was only created because we were seated right next to the away fans, which automatically drives you on to sing for your team, a well known fact. The Newcastle supporters fall into one group, never should the Toon Ultras think they are the heart of the support, they demanded a singing section, at what point did they earn this right. They think they won the club over by giving them a singing section, however everyone with a bit of sense knows that the only reason we have been moved there is so there is only one row of police separating the two sets of fans!!

Also, at Hartlepool, the support was split, there was the kids at one side singing other clubs songs, the other side was full of people who had been going for years, I see them at every away game. We all noticed when the Ultras and the Ultra wannabees were singing, they were singing far too fast, you couldn’t even understand what they were singing!!

An example of stealing other songs, was when they started singing Oh When the Mags Go Marching In, any of you heard Tottenham fans singing this, they start slowly, sounds amazing from them, but when the Ultras started singing this, it sounded pathetic will all the kids and the high voices. I find it pathetic that they have to steal other songs. That makes them look average. Don’t give me the sad excuse that other teams steal songs, our support shouldn’t be like other teams, we should be original, we should show why we are special, you don’t see the Man Utd fans doing it, or Liverpool, so why should they stoop so low and steal songs from teams like Spurs and FC United!!

One member of the Ultra group who I will be happy to say his name, Kane, apparently one of the leaders, a tall lad with black hair, threatened another Newcastle fan at home to Bolton last season, this lad is a young member of the proper Toon Army, he travels with us to all away games, pays with his own money, he also slated Martins when he constantly missed easy chances, he was annoyed with him, as was I, he was annoyed when they started chanting his name. This Ultra, Kane, threatened the lad, his words exactly, “Shut Up you little * or I will kick you down the stairs.” The Toon Ultras with this amazing reputation amongst the Media, showing signs of being a real ULTRA, and threatening a lad half his size!  After this happened, this young lads Dad, also a Loyal Toon fan, then replied with, “Showing your true Ultra side now, come down here and be a man instead of being all talk no action.” Ultra Kane gladly shut up.

A few days later away at Stoke in the FA Cup, I was talking to this young lad in the seats before the game, Ultra Kane came walking up the stairs, came right into the face of this young lad and said, “What are you doing here? Only Loyal fans come to away games.” This young lads Dad then told him to shut his mouth, Ultra Kane decided he was the hard man and wanted a fight with this young lads dad outside, me and another mate grabbed Kane shoved him against the wall and put him in his place the coward. Now I am not one usually for violence, neither was this young lads father, we all travel the country and go to European games, as well as all home games, just to support our team. But if we have to put one mouthy Newcastle fan who comes into the face of a kid in his place then we gladly will. You don’t threaten kids! Simple fact, and this was actions from a great Toon Ultra!

At one friendly game last season against Sampdoria, the Ultras and the wannabees packed out the south east corner, were having a bit of banter with a group in the Gallowgate end, and then the classic from the Ultras, “You Only Come For The Friendlies.” What a bunch of hypocrites, a tiny minority of the ultras go to league matches or away matches! And to try and show off to other supporters is pathetic, we are all one, we shouldn’t have to battle it out with other Newcastle fans for who is the best. Its when games like Sunderland away come along, wait and see how many Ultras get tickets for that game.

I was in a bar one night, a group of ultras were in there, and one said to me, you obviously don’t go to matches, I was shocked and a bit confused as to what he was getting at, I said excuse me, he said it was because I was wearing my Black and White shirt! Couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

A few things which have recently come to my attention is that the song sheets handed out at Hartlepool, each song on that sheet had been copied from FC United. You can also search for FC United videos and you will find the exact same song. The name is Toon Ultras, used to be Bring Back The Noise(BBTN), they changed the name for the worse, they now look like hooligans.

On the first meet, one night in the UEFA cup(notice it wasn't a league game as none had season tickets), they were jumping along the rows singing a foreign song(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-HxO5Xz9IW0) and the Chelsea dagger, then the next day blamed it on the 'charvas' who were also in that section. It has also come to my attention that they are all young members who think they know the way forward, all young members who attend cup matches think they know what is best!! Another fact, 3 seasons ago, only 4 members had Season Tickets, I believe this has now doubled!!! Wow!

One of the leaders, Jordan, I have never seen him do anything to help the Ultra cause, this includes handing out sheets and putting up a banner on match day. Also, the aim is bring back the noise, why have banners? They have banners bearing the name Toon Ultras, Newcastle United isn't called Toon Ultras, why show off the name of that group, trying to be superior!

So to sum up, the Ultras are a corrupt supporters group, with lack of originality floating through their veins, they all want a bit of other teams support at Newcastle. They argue with other fans to show they are the ‘best’. They have threatened little kids, ignored other members, constantly battle with other Newcastle fans, say people don’t go to matches for wearing a black and white top out one night, sing about other Newcastle fans being rubbish, they sing far to fast, save money for banners, another idea copied by Liverpool, think they have more rights because people have heard of them. They are a group full of kids; a few adults who think they are a better fan than the others and are so far up their behind. They are taking applause for nothing from the media.

You can have your opinions on it, you think what they are doing is a good thing, so do I, but you aren’t looking at the bigger picture. You are giving them to much respect, I hope Ultras read this and come back down to earth, they are no different to fans who sing, they just have a huge banner and a website. They copy songs and call themselves original.

The Newcastle United support is all one, no fans who go to games are better than others.
