Jets' Fans Divided: The QB Debate Will See No End
By now you have surely heard all sides of the New York Jets' starting quarterback debate. It's been the main topic of discussion since the Jets' finished their off-season spending spree. Will it be Kellen Clemens or Chad Pennington that gets to play with all the new toys?
With training camp around the corner, fans are gearing up to officially declare their allegiances. Most have already decided which quarterback they would prefer to see under center in Miami come Week 1.
In their hearts they may want to believe they'll be cheering for the uniform, but given the intensity and frequency of these debates, it's not believable.

The fans have evaluated all of the pros and cons between the two quarterbacks, and most have managed to come to what they believe are reasonable conclusions. They have determined what it will mean for the New York Jets if the quarterback they want does not receive the starter nod from Eric Mangini.
Some fans may even have their arguments prepared, and will not be afraid to say, "I told you so," at the first sign of trouble.
This argumentative mentality for the quarterback battle has no positive outcome. It only spells trouble for Jets' fans. At this point, not even a Super Bowl victory will be an adequate resolution to this impending disaster.
If the Jets' were to win the big game with Kellen Clemens, the Chad Pennington supporters will argue that the team would have won more decisively with NO.10 behind center. And the same will be true the other way. The fans are a tough bunch to please.
This is the unique dilemma fans are faced with this season. No matter what the team does, no matter how well they play, and no matter what the final results of the season are, when February 2009 rolls around there will still be fans asking, "What if?" With so many fans being so deeply invested in their preferred quarterback, the hypothetical arguments will run rampant in the Jets' universe.
When the decision is made, the fans need to do what's right and not fight amongst themselves. Jets' fans must determine if they prefer to show their allegiance to the uniform or the player wearing it.
Their faith must be placed in the front office to select the quarterback that is not the less of two evils, but to the man that performs best, and that can accomplish the most with the talent around him.
Argue to your heart's delight until September 7th, but after that it will be time to support the man taking the snap.
