Tottenham Hotspur Chairman Daniel Levy has reported Manchester United and Liverpool to the Premier League over their transfer conduct.

Manchester United have made no secret about their interest in Spurs striker Dimitar Berbatov, with recent comments from United boss Sir Alex Ferguson infuriating Levy.

Ferguson publicly announced that the Red Devils had made an offer for Berbatov and he was confident (as time is on their side) that a deal will go through.

Levy berated the above information on the official club website before attacking Sir Alex personally.

"It is also probably one of the worst offences by any manager in the Premier League to date and is unbelievably hypocritical, given his recent comments in respect of Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid," Levy said.

Daniel Levy might be a controversial figure in the football world, but his comments are spot on here.

Does Sir Alex really think there are different rules for him or for Manchester United?

Tottenham have also reported Liverpool and Rafa Benitez over their public pursuit of Robbie Keane.

Funnily enough, I read plenty comments by Liverpool fans recently claiming Keane wasn't Liverpool material!

I really worry about some Liverpool fans. Keane has been immense in recent years and basically Spurs' best player (like Gareth Barry at Aston Villa). Therefore, he is not good enough because he isn't David Villa, I suppose.

Liverpool are no Real Madrid. Get over it.

I can't see much of a punishment, if any, being dished out to the two clubs but they should definitely "zip it" in the future and do their business in a more respectable manner.

You simply can't have your cake and eat it, Sir Alex!

  1. Funny that we both published an article about the same exact thing almost.

    1. Just shows we at Bleacher are on the ball and know what to debate :)

  2. I think you nailed something in here that no one ever wants to talk about, Andrew: Fergie really does think there are different rules for him. Just as Real Madrid (and AC Milan for that matter) really believes there are different rules for them in European Football.

Manchester United is the monster team in England, and Fergie is the head of that monster. I think he probably doesn't like being made to feel like a mid-table team by teams like Real Madrid, and is blinded to the fact that he disrespects the teams beneath him, but Levy and you are right. He is a hypocrite. It's a shame nothing will be done. But good for Levy making an issue out of it.

    1. I usually have total respect for fergie but this time he is wrong and he has been found out. Good to see other EPL teams outside the top 4 standing up to the 'monsters'.

      Thanks Brad.

  3. In my article about the same topic I raised the question, is it right for a club to publicly declare their interest in a player?

    1. Just keep it private as offers for players under contract can be rejected before the player being publicly serenaded and gets too big for his boots. It keeps players feet on the ground and their heads small enough to fit through the door.

  5. United made an offer and sir alex told the press.Whats wrong with that tottenham don't have to sell.Levy is just trying to gain a bit of popularity with the fans because he knows he is going to sell because they haven't got the balls to keep them.He shouldn't be reporting anyone he should be apologising to his fans for having no ambition.

    1. Most man u fans I saw were agreeing with Levy mate. Tottenham have said they don't want to sell and sir alex undermined that by saying we are man utd....it'll just be a matter of time as the player will want to come......No different to the ronaldo saga at all.

  6. If you cant have your cake and eat it what the hell are you supposed to do with it!!!

    1. I was just about to say exactly the same thing :P

  7. Just get over the fact that your best players want to leave!!
Your just a over-hyped, mid-table team at best......
