Manchester United: A Force to be Reckoned With

Zaakir HoosenJul 17, 2008

Already looking forward to the upcoming English Premier League, which has set the benchmark in Europe and across the world. With three English clubs playing in the semi-final of Europe's most prestigious tournaments and Manchester United winning the trophy it seems that for the next couple of years, English football will dominate the world.

Sir Alex Ferguson, undoubtedly one of the most experienced and successful managers in the world is on a mission. First, to beat Liverpool's record of 18 league titles and to win the Champions League at least one more time.

Can he do it? Yes he can. Does he have the team? Yes he does.

If you take a closer look at the United team, looking at everything from youth to experience, United has it all. Talent is flowing through the gates of Old Trafford and the eagerness to win and the willingness to stay as champions is so transparent in players such as Ryan Giggs and company.

Having won the league for the past two years, winning the European trophy, it's hard to imagine United falling below par this coming season. With Ronaldo's and Anderson's absence at the start of the season, and Manchester still looking strong, United will be tested. Can they win and go on without one or two of their stars?

A good test for United will be the upcoming tour to South Africa, one which I am personally looking forward to. It's a chance for thousands of fans to see some of the heroes in action against two of South Africa's giants. Although the likes of the Chiefs and the Pirates can't be compared to United, it will be interesting to see if players are able to gel together.

Younger players will have the opportunity to show their talent while some of the more experienced players will be able to have a run in before what seems to be a heavily contested season ahead.

Looking at the upcoming season, what can I say? It's going to be a "CRACKER" of a season.

With the likes of Chelsea already signing some big names, the Spurs cashing in on a number of talented individuals and some of the smaller clubs also making big purchases, England will be hot this summer.

Let's hope we are not disappointed and may the best club come out on top...
