The 2010 Trap Game Urban Meyer, Florida Gators Must Be Ready To Dominate
Ok, so we might win by 30 points. Be careful Urban, be very Careful
Ask Meeeeechigan how confident they were going into that 2007 game vs. Appalachian state. Probably fairly confident would you say.
After all, they were ranked in the top five, had the likes of Henne and Jake Long, and it was, in fact, at the "Big House."
I still remember seeing the look on many a Wolverine fan's face as that last second field goal was blocked, sending a streaking App State defender down the sideline to steal a win on hallowed ground.
Must we remember that this was the same Wolverine team that outlasted the Gators in the Capital one Bowl a few months later?
Will it happen again for App State this coming fall vs. the mighty Gators?
Probably Not.
Could it happen?
Abso-freakin-lutely!
As a Gator fan, if this game doesn't scare you into therapy, then you need to check yourself.
App State has proved that they will play anyone, anywhere, anytime. If they weren't intimidated in the Big House, are they going to be fooled into thinking that they can't duplicate that in the Swamp?
Every Gator fan knows that this game traditionally has been a lay-down, even the likes that Hedei Fleiss can't relate to. Regardless of what the Gators do in Tuscaloosa early on, if the Gators go into this game with one loss looking ahead to FSU, this could be the nightmare scenario we all hope won't play out.
This is a classic trap game and that's the way App State wants it. They will come into this game believing they can win. This will be a season defining win for them if they can pull it off.
Keeping it close, a few picks, an unfortunate fumble at a bad time, and who knows what can happen.
I expect that the only loss that Florida will have coming into this contest could be from Alabama early on. Yes, I know at Tennessee, and South Florida visits the swamp also. But, Miss State, Kentucky, LSU, and South Carolina are not beating Florida. Georgia is a head case when it comes to Jacksonville, and FSU is always a rivalry game.
No, not really concerned about those teams, except 'Bama, but the school from Boone, North Carolina will come ready to battle. Will we be looking past them, ahead to FSU, and finally ahead to another showdown with 'Bama in the SEC championship game?
Just ask Lloyd Carr how that works!
