Oakland vs Denver, it never gets old. A classic AFC West rivalry. This article is a warning to Broncos fans to be ready for the beat down the Oakland Raiders will place on the Broncos Sunday, October 24th at Mile High Staduim.
2010 is the year of the Oakland Raiders as we will once again return to glory and get back to where we belong, AFC WEST champions.
Since 2003 our last super bowl run, the last 7 years have gone bad, yes we all know, however the past is the past, and these are the new and improved Oakland Raiders.
As rivals, it's key to know your opponents like the back of your hand, so for you Denver Broncos fans I will give you a breakdown of how the Oakland Raiders have improved, and why we will be the champions of the AFC WEST for the 2010 season.
2010 NFL DRAFT
Many NFL experts who do nothing but hate on the Raiders were in total shock on how great our draft went this year, in fact instead of the hate they gave us high grades such as A+, A, and A-.
The Raiders improved so much and did a great job in picking players of need in this years draft.
Oakland Raiders 2010 NFL DRAFT
Round 1 - MLB Rolando McClain (Alabama): Such a great pick at #8 overall. Even being Denver Broncos fans you got to admit that you were holding your breath wondering who Al Davis was going to pick. He will become the QB of our defense, and a force in the middle for years to come in the Sliver and Black
Round 2 - DE Lamarr Houston (Texas): 6'3 300 pounds out of Texas, dude is a beast, and not only did we target him, but we where able to move back 2 times and add more draft picks. Houston will fit in perfect on our D Line, with Richard Seymour, Tommy Kelly and company look for our line to be a force this season.
Round 3 - OL Jared Veldheer (Hillsdale): 6'8 312 pound beast of an O-Lineman comes from a divsion two school, but the resreach was done on Veldheer, his combine and the fact that he was not only able to play but to shine in the all star games for seniors, only proves why the Raiders did a great job in scouting this young man, he will be great
Round 4 - OL Bruce Campbell (Maryland): A lot of experts had us picking Bruce Campbell in the 1st round. Bruce Campbell is a total beast and is unlike any player coming out this year in the NFL, he is without question the biggest and baddest, he looks like D BO from the movie Friday in a football jersey. I can't wait to see him putting Broncos facemask in the dirt, go do some resreach on Bruce Campbell he is the real deal, I'm so glad we got him in the 4th round, he is nasty.
Round 4 - WR/KR Jacoby Ford (Clemson): If you have ever watched a Clemson game in your life then you know who Jacoby Ford is. Dude is pure speed, and has a great chance to becoming our full time kick returner. At the combine he ran the fastest time out of any player clocking in at 4.2, he has major upside, remember his name.
Round 5 - CB Walter Mcfadden (Auburn): Mcfadden has major skills, and should be a great nickle back, I'll go as far to say that I think Walter Mcfadden will be better then Alphonso Smith who the Broncos drafted last year. Mcfadden also runs a 4.3 and with help from Nnamdi he could turn out to be a great pro. He plays with the attitude of a Raider.
Round 6 - LB Travis Goethel (Arizona State)
Round 7 - CB Jeremy Ware (Michigan State), FS/LB Stevie Brown (Michigan)
Overall Draft Grade: A
Our offense will be the biggest change in our team this season, as we have brought in new offensive coordinator Hue Jackson in from the Baltimore Ravens to lead the unit. Expect to see more detail and overall more points scored.
The Raiders have also improved there biggest weakness in QB play, no longer will JaMarcus Russell be behind center (Broncos fans you can hate on Russell all you want but the last 2 times in Mile High he has beaten you there).
JaMarcus held the Raiders offense back with his poor play and bad descion making, Oakland has thus traded for a proven starting QB in Jason Campbell to lead the offense. With Campbell you will see a much better following offense.
Campbell will have lots of weapons to use such as RB Darren Mcfadden, RB Michael Bush, TE Zach Miller, WR Chaz Schlliens (scored game winning TD last season vs Broncos at Mile High last season), WR Louis Murphy, WR Darrius Heyward Bey, WR Johnnie Lee Higgins, and newest Raider WR Jacoby Ford
Most important our offensive line play will be much improved this season, with a healthy Mario Henderson, Robert Gallery, Samson Satele, Khalif Barnes, Langston Walker, and then adding in our two stud draft picks in 3rd round pick Jared Veldheer, and 4th round pick Bruce Campbell, our offensive line will be powerful and deep. Our biggest weakness has turned into our strength.
The Oakland Raiders should have one of the top defensive units in the league in 2010 with an improved offense.
Too many times last season teams where able to get the lead and run the ball at will on us due to the fact that they didn't have to pass the ball. A better offense will lead to a better defense.
In terms of stopping the run, the Raiders will look to rookies MLB Rolando McClain and DT Lamar Houston to make an immediate impact to help stop the run. Plus the Oakland Raiders have added Kamerion Wimbley from the Cleveland Browns and Quentin Groves from the Jacksonville Jaguars to go along with Richard Seymour, Tommy Kelly, Thomas Howard, Trevor Scott, Matt Shaughnessy, and Desmond Bryant, and our front seven takes on a whole another look.
The Raiders have made stopping the run their number one priority, and the changes made are real and something you can see, not just talk.
The Oakland Raiders also have one of the best secondary's in the league, lead by pro bowl CB Nnamdi Asomugha who is considerd to be the best in the NFL. At safety, we have Michael Huff and the hard hitting Mike Mitchell, our other CB inculde Chris Johnson, Stanford Routt, and newest Raider Walter Mcfadden.
Look for our DB's to have a much improved year with better defensive line play. Overall I think the Raiders could have a top 10 defense in the NFL.
Denver Broncos fans please tell me why the Broncos will be better in 2010 then they were in 2009, you guys lost Jay Cutler, and now this season lost Brandon Marshall. As I sat back and watched the NFL draft when the Denver Broncos picked Tim Tebow in the first round I thought to myself what a perfect combo.
Tim Tebow is a square, and he's going to square Denver.
Broncos fans be ready to crown the Oakland Raiders AFC WEST champs in 2010, our time is now, for the last 7 years since we went to the Super Bowl ya'll have done nothing, matter of fact ya'll have done nothing since John Elway was QB years ago.
So what you Broncos fans need to do is stop hating on the Raider Nation, and understand that Oakland is taking back what belongs to them this year.
