Fantasy Baseball Box Score Breakouts: April 25, 2010

Here’s a look at some unheralded players who played well yesterday.

Scott Rolen, Cincinnati Reds

Rolen went 2-for-3 with three runs and a HR (five). He’s hitting .283.

Scott Olsen, Washington Nationals

Olsen threw seven scoreless innings with eight Ks to pick up the win. He’s 1-1 with a 6.14 ERA.

Brandon Morrow, Toronto Blue Jays

Morrow took the loss as David Price pitched a gem (complete game shutout, nine Ks). Morrow gave up two runs on three hits with eight Ks. The six walks didn’t help.

Andy LaRoche, Pittsburgh Pirates

Andy went 4-for-4 with two RBI to improve to .343.

Ryan Theriot, Chicago Cubs (pictured)

Theriot went 5-for-6 with two runs, three RBI, and a SB (five). He’s hitting .329.

Kosuke Fukudome, Chicago Cubs

Fukudome went 3-for-4 with three runs, a HR, and two RBI. He’s hitting .333.

 

Randy Wells, Chicago Cubs

Wells went seven innings, allowing two runs with six Ks to improve to 2-0 with a 2.49 ERA.

Colby Lewis, Texas Rangers

Lewis gave up four runs in 6.1 innings but struck out 10 and improved to 3-0 with a 3.80 ERA.

Daric Barton, Oakland A’s

Barton went 3-for-4 with a run to bring his average to .328.

Kevin Kouzmanoff, Oakland A’s

Kouzmanoff went 2-for-4 with a run and three RBI. He’s hitting just .247 but has 11 RBI.

Gio Gonzalez, Oakland A’s

Gonzalez threw seven scoreless innings, allowing five hits, to improve to 2-1 with a 3.68 ERA.

Brad Penny, St. Louis Cardinals

Penny is off to a great start. He threw 7.2 scoreless innings to improve to 3-0 with a 0.94 ERA.

Chris Young, Arizona Diamondbacks

Young went 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI to raise his average to .292.

 

Seth Smith, Colorado Rockies

Smith went 2-for-3 with two HRs and four RBI. He’s hitting .231 with 12 RBI.

Miguel Olivo, Colorado Rockies

Olivo went 2-for-4 with a HR and two RBI. He’s hitting .317 with five HRs and 10 RBI.

Mike Pelfrey, New York Mets

Pelfrey picked up the win in the Mets’ rain-shortened game with the Braves. He threw five scoreless innings to improve to 4-0 with a 0.69 ERA.

Daniel Bard, Boston Red Sox: 1 IP, 0 Runs, 3 Ks (12 Ks, 11.2 IP) 
Fu-Te Ni, Detroit Tigers: 2 IP, 0 Runs, 5 Ks (11 Ks, 8 IP)
