Arsene Wenger Wants Talented English Goalie Joe Hart At The Emirates
The simple fact that Arsenal do not have enough English players in their squad surely contributes to the Gunners shortcomings for the past 5 years where they have yet to win any silverware. This news however can bring back smiles to the Emirates faithful.
If anything is to be believed, then this news that Arsene Wenger will go all out to secure the signing of this highly regarded Englishman - Manchester City's Joe Hart who is currently on loan at surprise packages of the season-Birmingham City, cannot be dismissed as just another rumour.
Why? -Just take a look at their squad-Apart from Theo Walcott, there are no other locals in their squad that is largely made up of French players. Though many may argue that the likes of Kieran Gibbs and on-loan midfielder Jack Wilshere who is in Bolton now till the end of the season are English, but what are the odds on them being guaranteed a starting spot week in week out. Therefore the Frenchman could be making another smart move in securing the services of talented Hart who hails from Shrewsbury, England.
Coupled with that is the possible new rule that will be implemented by FIFA on the 6+5 quota rule in where there needs to be at least six homegrown players starting every match.
Coming back to the player in the spotlight - Joe Hart . Manchester City's on loan goalie Joe Hart who has had a season to remember with Birmingham City will surely be courted by many clubs including his parent club -Manchester City who are keen on tying up a deal before he plays for some other club. He has made some jaw-dropping saves this season, most notably the one when he denied Frank Lampard on what would have been a sure goal had he not pulled his weight to make that spectacular save in that game against table topping Chelsea in December.
However, this 23 year won't be sure of a starting spot in City as he will have to face stiff competition from veteran Irish goalkeeper-Shay Given. If he makes the reported £10 million move away from Manchester for the capital, he can surely be confident that he will be the Gunners No.1 shot-stopper as Arsene Wenger has clearly not been happy with the erratic form of Manuel Almunia and Lukasz Fabianski.
Often, when you see a English player leaving for another club in the same country, you can be very sure that he won't take a long time to adopt to the new pastures of football. Goalkeepers always take a lot of time to really be confident and start showing stellar performances.
And with Hart being English, there would be no such problems for the London side. For further proof, take Glen Johnson's and Adam Johnson's moves from their old clubs to their new clubs (Liverpool and Manchester City) as an example.
Hart who will be surely in the plane to South Africa for the World Cup faces a challenging chapter in his career on whether to take the next step in his life that is to move to Arsenal which I strongly feel will benefit both parties.
Arsene Wenger is well-known in making a good player a world-class one and will surely be relishing the prospect of Hart at the Emirates next season making tremendous saves and possibly presenting Arsenal with their first trophy since the 2005 FA Cup Final.
