Overeem Strikes Back! Fedor Flip Flops? Brett Adds His Own Grimm View

Marco YanitelliApr 23, 2010

Following comments recently made by Fedor's camp regarding Alistair Overeem's lack of "worthiness" as an opponent, an angry Alistair camp shot back with full force.

Martin De Jong, The Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion's manager had this to say to MMAFighting.com: "Alistair has very good chance to beat Fedor. I am very confident." Martin De Jong went on to say, "Alistair is a much better striker than Fedor and if they stand up and trade, like they do in K-1? Fedor would get the bleep kicked out of him"

After taking a deep breath he had even more to say about Fedor. "Alistair is technically a much better fighter. Fedor is not a good striker and his strikes are fundamentally flawed. Fedor's style would offer him not a single chance against a skilled K-1 Veteran like Alistair."

Of course he wasn't quite finished. "Oh, and let's not forget how great Alistair's ground game is. People don't realize just how good he really is."

The evidence of this possibility seems to be against De Jong. If Fedor is a flawed striker then someone forgot to tell Eddie Roach and Arlovski the Technician. They also forgot to tell multiple K-1 Champion Semmy Schilt, who fell to Fedor during the PRIDE orginization's heyday, that Fedor cant fight K-1 quality strikers.

Most insiders agree that he is just angry about missing a huge payday. Had the steroid issue not come up the two fighters would have met (assuming Alistair defeats Rodgers) toward the end of 2010. That no longer appears likely regardless of whatever title might be on the line.

The situation was bad enough before Alistair's trainer, Bas Boon, refused to back down on statements made regarding Fedor and the Emelianenko family.

These statements include accusations of Fedor's Organization being run by organized crime. Bas claimed that Fedor's associates threatened peoples lives and operated several scams.

Bas did, however, fail to mention exactly what kind of scams they were. To this day he still has remained silent and has refused to back up his claims.

Vadim Finkelchstein, The president of M-1 Global was deeply offended by the comments regarding ties to organized crime.

As if seeming to remind everyone of a forgotten fact, Finkelschtein pointed out that even the Russian President, Vladimir Putin has attended several of fedor's events. Vadim stated that he ran a completely clean business and was beyond the reach of organized street thugs.

Shockingly, Vadim also stated that if it came down to a fight with Fedor that the Emelianenko Family and trainers would welcome any choice of venue Alistair might suggest.

In other words, if he doesn't shut his trap he will get what he is asking for. Sometimes you think you want something and when you get it you realize what a big mistake you have made.

Always a fountain of wisdom, Brett Rodgers spoke to reporter Jeremy Lambert, a well-known You Tube personality. "I don't know what kind of Chemicals hes using—maybe it's the horse meat. Whatever he is doing he is getting big faster than I ever could. Its a total mystery."

Brett said that, like Fedor, he was not concerned about the drugs either. Instead Brett feels, as many do, that Alistair's glass chin is all he Brett needs to end things quickly and win the Strikeforce Heavyweight Title. "I'm definitely going to be hunting that chin of his for five rounds if necessary. Alistair better be worried about me (not Fedor)."

So it appears the Saga will continue on for now.
