If recent reports are to be believed, Sir Alex Ferguson is eyeing AC Milan's out-of-favor striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar as a possible signing this summer as he continues his search for a support to the in-form Rooney.

Sources close to the Red Devils' have claimed that Ferguson could arrange a swap deal for Huntelaar in exchange of his £30m mistake Berbatov, who has failed to make an impact at Old Trafford since his arrival two seasons ago.

The ex-Tottenham star who joined United in 2008 has failed to seal a permanent place for himself at Old Trafford. He has been criticized as being unfit for United's style of play. His recent performances have sparked speculations that he could be on his way out of Manchester United.

Although Bayern Munich are seen as a possible destination for the 6'2" Berbatov, a possible move to the Rossonerri cannot be ruled out completely as of now.

AC Milan supremo Adriano Galliani has hinted at a possible transfer for their off-color striker Huntelaar to the Premier League at the end of these season after he told in an interview that England could be a possible destination for Milan's out-of-favor striker.

Though "The Hunter," as Huntelaar is commonly referred to, has struggled to rediscover the kind of form which made him so coveted during his Ajax days yet that does not undermine his capabilities to hit the back of the net if a chance arrives and can improve his performance if given sufficient time on the field.

Although he played for only half a season at Real Madrid last year yet he managed an impressive eight goals in only 13 starts he made for the Bernabeau giants.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has already hinted at more possible signings this summer as he looks to reinforce hs squad before next season. At the top of his priority list is a striker who can provide sufficient cover to the top-class Rooney.

The injury to Rooney was seen by many as the possible reasons of United missing out on the Champions League and also falling behind in the race for Premier League title. Berbatov failed miserably to take United's goal-scoring responsibilities in the absence of Rooney, which has led to speculations that the Bulgarian might get the boot this summer.

Huntelaar, standing at 6'1" has strong physical characteristics that make him ideal for the largely physical Premier League. He is a real predator stalking the opponent's box looking to sniff out a chance. The 26-year-old Dutch international is also very strong in the air which makes him a threat for his opponents during corners or set-pieces.

But he lacks the pace required to become a truly top striker and does not put in much effort to create chances unlike Rooney or Drogba which makes him depend to a great extent on delivery. Nonetheless, he is a top-class finisher who rarely misses out on chances in front of the goal.

With the likes of Benzema and David Villa also linked as possible transfer targets for the Old Trafford outfit this summer, the off-form Huntelaar may miss out on his chance to appear in the Premier League next season.

But he can be a good bargain for United in case the Red Devils' miss out on their top targets this summer.
