Overview
After a disastrous season saw the Rebels post an 0-8 conference record in 2007, the only place to go for Ole Miss in 2008 is up.
New head coach Houston Nutt arrives in Oxford and looks resurrect a program that former coach Ed Orgeron left surprisingly loaded with talent. There are three potential first round picks on this team in Michael Oher, Greg Hardy, and Peria Jerry.
Ole Miss will also be treated to seeing a talented new quarterback under center in 2008. Texas transfer Jevan Snead has arrived in Oxford and taken the reins at quarterback. All indications thus far are that he will have much more success than former quarterback Brent Schaeffer.
Snead will have a lot to work with behind a talented offensive line. Running backs Cordera Eason and Enrique Davis should form a very effective ground game, while Dexter McCluster, Mike Wallace, and Shay Hodge will provide Snead with some great targets in the passing game.
Ole Miss could surprise a lot of teams this year. While they probably don’t have a legitimate shot at winning the West, they could certainly upset one of the favorites and go a long way towards determining the SEC West Champion.
Don’t be surprised at all if Ole Miss wins four or five conference games and ends up playing a game in December.
