S.M.'s Craftsman Truck Series Update

Horn FanJul 16, 2008

Randy Moss Motorsports Update

The Built Ford Tough 225 race will mark the debut of Randy Moss Motorsports. Will Allen will drive the 81 Truck, Chevrolet will be the manufacturer, and godaddy.com will be the sponsor for the race. Eric Phillips will also continue on as Crew Chief. He's been a long-time employee at Morgan-Dollar.

I think Randy Moss really did his homework in deciding to buy 50 percent of a Craftsman Team and choosing an established team to invest in. Unlike other NFL stars in the past, Randy didn't handicap himself by buying into a Sprint Cup team. By getting in the Truck Series, he can build his team into moving up to the Nationwide Series and even Sprint Cup eventually.

Morgan-Dollar Racing has been in the Truck Series for 11 years. They have 13 wins with numerous drivers and Dennis Setzer finished second in the points three years in a row in that seat.

Randy Moss Motorsports, has yet to sign a full-time sponsor. Looks like Chevrolet will be the manufacturer and development drivers will fill out driving the rest of the season.

They are looking to sign a full-time driver for '09 and looking for a sponsor or associate sponsors.

Title Sponsor Update

Kobalt Tools appears to be the front runner to replace Craftsman as title sponsor. Craftsman is done at the end of the year. Nothing is finalized yet, but it looks like NASCAR and Lowes are working on a deal.

Two other candidates are NAPA and Stanley Tools. Both have talked to NASCAR about becoming title sponsors.

Shrub Sighting in Kentucky

The Shrub will not take the weekend off and rest-up for Indy. He's on the entry list for the Built Ford Tough 225 at Kentucky Speedway and in a truck from Ballew Motorsports.
